Social Profile:

At our Madisonville, KY location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

Fast-food chain serving fried fish & shrimp combo meals along with gumbo & funnel cakes.

I ate here today because I haven’t been since I was a teen and was craving some seafood. Decided to go through drive-thru. The person on the speaker seemed really impatient. When I ordered the fish and fry for $5.99 and asked for coleslaw, she replied, “We don’t have coleslaw!” Yet, 50 pics of it all over the menu board.
I added a medium diet dr pepper and key lime pie. My total was over $18!
At the window, the employee never greeted or anything, handed my bag and closed the window.
As I pull around, realized my pie wasn’t in the bag. My husband took my receipt and had to wait for awhile for them to get it. While he said the girl seemed apologetic, he could hear the banter about being short staffed, orders getting out of sequence and people blaming each other.
He said they seemed very stressed to him and taking it out on customers.
While I was craving food from there, I really wouldn’t consider returning due to the whole bad experience.

I think they’re in trouble. Behold the trailer park frozen fish sticks, 2026.

Filthy, employees attire filthy, leftover food on tables and in floors. Employee cook sitting out front in clogs playing with his feet. One employee wearing a sweat shirt that looked like she was doing yard work. Windows filthy. Counter tops filthy. I could go on. This will be our last visit.

Went through drive-through at lunch time on a weekday. Order was correct, worker was friendly and professional, and the food was great, nice and hot. I’ll be back.

Food was not fresh at all. Please don’t waste your money. The gentleman that took our order was very friendly. The food was just really bad. French fries taste like yesterday‘s, and you could tell the grease was old that they fried the fish in. I really hate to give a bad review, but I really hate to waste my money on bad food.

The food here is usually great BUT today….burnt. They were accommodating in replacing my meal with another burnt dried out over seasoned meal.

Just walk inside and look at this place it’s so nasty in the dining room and the storefront. I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like. I got sick after eating something there last summer and I won’t go back. Just gross.

When you say you want extra tartar sauce that don’t mean 2 dinky cups of tartar when you order 2 meals. Very un pleased need to tell your employees it’s 2 each per meal. I have been in the food business for years.

First of all, service was incredibly slow even for Captain D’s. It took 30 minutes to get served and I was the only one in line. One dinner was fine. The four fillets I ordered were one regular size and 3 half sizes. As always there are items on the menu that were unavailable. This seems to be the norm here. Based on cost customers receive better service and quality at any on the other eateries in town. Based on canned responses to previous reviews it appears there is desire to change or improve.
