At our Nicholasville, KY location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

Been there 4 times always had send food back, fish was never done inside, raw and Fry’s were always stale and cold , hus puppies were raw inside and this last time they were yellow color like they were made from wheat flour, I took plates back up I told lady give us free coupons that we take them to another captain de,s .we never come back there again. Looked like they had very young boys learning to cook. Sorry you could get food Poison at this location.

This location actually had one of the better platters I’ve ever had ar a D’s. The fish was super crunchy (not soggy with oil) and the coleslaw and green beans tasted pretty good. The gal at the counter was super courteous and patient while my FIL decided what it was he wanted. Overall, it was a good food experience. Bring back the lobster roll!!!

Entire parking lot was several inches of ice and snow with no attempt to clear it for customers. We were so happy to be out of the house after 9 days being iced in. My husband really insisted we try to park and go in even though I did not feel it was safe. Baked potato was rotten but the shrimp was good. We will NOT visit this location again.

Our food was great! They are currently running a special where you get the giant fish sandwich combo for $5.99 (regular price is $6.99). The combo includes a giant fish sandwich, which comes with 2 fish filets, tartar sauce, and lettuce on a bun, one side item of your choice, and a drink. I think it’s a really good value for the money. The service was fast and friendly. My only complaint was that there were quite a few dirty tables that needed to be wiped down, but I believe it was because they were short staffed. We will definitely be back soon.

Got the family meal asked if I could have 4 plates with it. I asked bc I literally don’t have plates to eat off of at home right now. They said no to 4 plates with a 30$ family meal . Also they didn’t follow the directions of the sauce I needed.

I ordered the two-piece fish and fries, but the fish I received seemed like it had been sitting out for days. The hushpuppy also tasted stale when I got it at the window. I also saw a young blonde girl scratching her head while handling the food, which was concerning. While I usually enjoy Captain D’s, this Nicholasville location is disappointing—the food is terrible, the service is poor, and there are serious hygiene issues. Honestly, eating here feels like a recipe for food poisoning.

I had not eaten at this particular restaurant for several years. I got a meal January 2025 that tasted good. After that, not so good. Twice I got cole slaw that tasted spoiled. I had to spit it out. Luckily I did not get sick. I don’t plan to go back again. If the Cole slaw is bad, they are probably not being careful with anything else. Really you shouldn’t give them a second chance as I did. Not worth risking.
