At our Memphis, TN location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

I went inside to avoid the line and it was the best choice of made. Coming inside to see the restaurant clean as quiet. It’s nice! And the employees are relaxed and their supervisors keeping it running smooth I commend that young man for his attitude as well as explained to any customer in the drive-through if anything is going on with their order or the machine. This is also a trucker friendly location when you want to get something good and satisfying. This is where you come to.

I stopped to try the new item on the menu. The experience at the speaker when teying to order was terrible. I had to repeat myself over 4 times. When the order was called back to me, I had hope it would be correct. Order was wrong, though I was charged for what I ordered. Received fries and slaw instead of Mac and Cheese. The portion was for the Cajun catfish was tiny for the cost.

1st Time Visit:
Service below average – never greeted but that’s expected. Cashiers didn’t know how to scan QR code to add rewards points and the app is not working correctly to do so. Also, left off an item that I asked for. For a fairly new location, it’s only a matter of times before the negative reviews roll in.
Food – even though they have the old school battered big piece of fish, some locations are smaller now, this location’s fish was not good at all. Like someone else said below, almost doesn’t look or taste like “real” fish. Why is it that you can’t find fish that look or taste like this outside of Captain D’s?!?! I’m slick done eating Captain D’s after this experience.
Location – not terrible. The restaurant does look newly built. Grounds look kept up.
Given 1 star only because food and service were not great at all. Atmosphere, so-so.

The service was great but the fish does not appear to be the same. I’m not even sure if it IS fish. The texture was visibly different and it did not taste the same as I remember. I was praying and trying to eat it at the same time. Since Captain D’s is so high, i tried to eat it. I ended up giving it to my Yorkie ( hope he is ok) he seemed to enjoy it. Maybe the restaurant was just having a bad day but I don’t think I will be back.
