At our Knoxville, TN location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

My husband and I are lunch there today (Sunday 12/7/25) around 12pm. I would have given at least four stars for overall but the ice box dining room made my decision to only do one star. At first when we went to sit at a table and felt cold air coming through the vents we thought the A/C was on which would be crazy since it’s in the 30’s outside. There was an elderly lady sitting not far from us and she was shaking because she was freezing while she was eating. I almost left my husband to go to gabes across the parking lot and buy a jacket for her but with how busy gabes was she would probably be gone before I could get back. The lady at the front counter told my husband the heat was completely out and then we heard her tell the elderly lady they had a portable heater but it was out of gas and they haven’t gotten anymore for it. The lady working was nice, the food was like warm but good but the dining room was colder than it is outside. If they can’t get it fixed right away they really should put gas in the portable heater or close the dining room down. The few customers in there were all complaining. We also waited for almost 20 minutes for our food which as I said was good but Luke warm.

Come on, it’s 23 degrees outside and you have no heat? People waiting for 30 or more minutes! Orders not correct? Captain D’s it’s this kind of stuff that is making your customers leave for good. If you’re going to have a restaurant, do it right. BTW $16 for a 3 piece fish and drink is outrageous.

Ohhh the fish is juicy. And crisp. And delicious. The green beans were Devine. I can’t comment on the coleslaw. It isn’t made with mayonnaise. It is the sugar & vinegar mix. I like southern coleslaw. But that is personal preference. The portions were on point. The price…very compatible

I ordered 2 pc fish with slaw. Got 2 pc with fries, no slaw. Specifically ask for some crunchy bits, got 0. Ask for vinegar & cocktail sauce.

Ordered a family meal and received an entire box of crunchies…?? This is actually the SECOND time this has happened to me at this location. $60 for a family meal, small coleslaw, and a drink. Ugh. I did NOT receive my 3 stuffed crabs. Tried to call the store but nobody answered. Oh well, I guess?

Not very clean on cashier… Tables were dirty, Bathrooms need updated or at least be clean.. Food was barely warm , but cashier was very friendly

Food has been excellent every time we’ve gotten it! My only slight gripe is we never seem to get a consistent amount of shrimp lol sometimes we get the garlic butter shrimp and we get like 10 and sometimes we get like 40

This place is so disgusting bathrooms was dirty and when we got our food it was cold as ice we asked for a refund and they wouldn’t give us our money back due to a manager not being there they was very rude and disrespectful the girl up front was on her phone the hole time everyones food was sitting on the counter for at least 25 minutes so I highly recommend you go somewhere else and who ever is running this place needs to hire new crew
