At our Knoxville, TN location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

Sat in the drive-thru 20 minutes waiting on crap I wouldn’t feed my dog! Okra so hard you can’t chew. Greenbeans with something yellow ( not corn!) In them. Hushpuppies just crumbled because they were over cooked. Fish was ok. 8 piece jal pops only had 5 and whatever mystery chunk they threw in. Chic taking orders in drive-thru very rude and tried rushing us. This is ridiculous!!! I wish I knew how to post videos. To the chick in the drive-thru, if you don’t like your job quit! Honestly you should be fired!

I ordered a battered fish, shrimp and fry meal. I got the fish, shrimp and added fried okra. Which came fried in a ball, an undercooked ball of okra and a battered piece of chicken which was not supposed to come with the meal. I also ordered the spicy giant fish sandwich and got an undercooked “classic” fish sandwich that was not supposed to have tartar sauce but was drenched in it. There were only two employees working and working their butts off at that. I do not blame them, one had an arm brace on and was still working. I blame the ownership, this is ridiculous. I’d go back if they would actually staff the restaurant properly that way quality control is handled appropriately.

I would have given a 5 star rating on the food of my fries had been hot…. But the southern style fish was damn delicious and steaming hot…. Fresh and crunchy….I hadn’t been to Captain Ds in a long time. Except for the fries, I enjoyed my meal. I must also say the young lady at the window at drive through was so very polite. All in all it was a good experience and that’s super hard to find at fast food restaurants these days.

Every time I come in, the food and service are great! Although they may be short-staffed, they offer great customer service. The general manager was great with checking on my family and I as they experienced higher wait time on the food due to being short staffed. Great environment and experience for a fast food place. Thanks Captain D’s!

The staff were great but the atmosphere and food were lacking. Reason: the temperature was too too low to be comfortable and the cooking oil was definitely over due to be changed due to the darkness of the fish batter color. It was dark with black specks.

I drove all the way from Sevierville to eat at Captain D’s this evening ( 11-5-23) because it’s the closest one to me. First let me say the worker up front was very friendly and she was very attentive to anything I needed.
Once I got to the dining area and was waiting on my food it felt like it was hot enough to roast a turkey in there. This was a sunny, warm day and it was extremely hot and uncomfortable in the dining area. As a matter of fact some older folks sit down next to me and commented to the worker up front about how hot it was in there and she acknowledged and turned the heat down.
This is where things really go downhill. I ordered the Seafood sampler and I got a baked potato for one of my sides which has an up charge of an extra .99. The potato was not white and fresh like a baked potato is supposed to be; it had a brown/yellowish discoloration and it taste like it had been made days beforehand and I am pretty sure it was ( see photo). My fish, chicken, hushpuppies, and okra were all good but the okra also had an up charge of .99 and the portion size was about the size of the palm of my hand. I don’t mind paying extra for sides but at least give me a good portion and a fresh baked potato. I honestly can’t believe the cook that served that potato to me could not see how discolored and nasty that potato was. I guess they don’t care anymore. My meal was right at $20; for that price I should have just went to red lobster and paid a little more and got better food. I will not be returning to this Captain D’s again.

Went thru the drive thru…got home and some of our order was missing. Called the store and the girl insisted she knew exactly what we should be missing. Didn’t offer anything except for us to drive back to the store.
Then the food we did get was horrible.
The baked potato was brown and looked super old.
The slaw was 100% soured.
The crab looked like they ate the meat out and stuck it back in the fryer.
Our food was over $40 and we threw the majority of what we did get away.

Waited over 30 minutes in the drive through line, requested a refund and the girl at the window said they don’t do refunds. She said the reason it’s so slow is they only have one cook. I was on a lunch break so it took forever and will never come here again. Absolutely unacceptable.

DO NOT EAT HERE!! Absolutley horrible! When I walked in. The manager was issuing refunds because people had been waiting over 30 minutes for their orders. I went ahead and ordered a two piece fish and fries. And a drink. Waited 25 minutes for my food. While waiting witnessed male staff member in the lobby with his hands in his pants. Both restrooms were closed for cleaning When my food finally came. The piece of fish was the size of a French fry in diameter. When brought to the managers attention. She said. Well, take it up with corporate that’s what happened when we got bought out. She offered a refund and I said I’ll go ahead and keep it since I’ve waited so long. She was very rude. Could’ve offered to make it right with some extra fries or hush puppies. But instead said to take it up with corporate. Please DO NOT EAT HERE! after the wait the food wasn’t even fresh Absolutely worst experience I’ve had at any fast food restaurant in my life.
