At our Hixson, TN location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

I asked for some extra crispy bits with my fish and not only did I have a respectable amount in my box but they gave me a whole extra container! I could cry from happiness lol. Service was so fast and extremely nice- and the food is piping hot and absolutely delicious! I’ll definitely be back no doubt.

Waited 10 minutes at the screen before server took my order. Waited another 15 minutes while my order was prepared. Ordered fish…got dried out chicken instead. Fries were stale! It was the worst Captain Ds ever!!!
I have placed a review at the website you provided. This is really unfortunate because I do like your fish and I will miss eating it. Your first response felt really inadequate, uncaring and unresponsive. Providing incredibly slow/rude service, messed up orders and poorly prepared – poor quality food…and then giving an inadequate response will lose you customers!

Waited in line a very long time. And when i got home, after spending $40 for 2 plates of food, I realize they didn’t give me any sauce that I asked for. The for isn’t as good without seafood sauces.

I’ve been here a few times and haven’t necessarily had a bad experience but the place is a bit dingy. Food-wise, the fish is always hot and fresh but the fries are sometimes cold and the coleslaw is sometimes warm. Prices are a bit high without deals or coupons, in my opinion.

I ordered the four chicken strip meal. Hushpuppies are not good like they used to be, bland and no crisp. Slaw is still good. Lady at drive through was very nice. See photo attached. Four chicken straps had very little chicken, just a lot of greasy chicken flavored breading. Never going back, Captain D’s is a total waste of time and hard earned money!

My fish plate was awful I mean $14.82 I expected to be able to eat the fish and not about chock to death
It tasted awful and the baked potato wasn’t to good neither!
No sour cream and butter like I requested
The tea was good and the okra was ok !
If you can’t do better I will never eat there again!

The food at this Captain D’s is GREAT! My husband and I were hesitant to eat here because we had bad food and service from this location a few years ago but clearly something has changed for the better!! We ate inside about two months ago and went thru the drive thru tonight. The fish, chicken and fries were all hot and fresh and the coleslaw was great on both of our visits. I am very glad we decided to give this Captain D’s another chance and we will be eating here regularly from now on.

Today my family and I stopped in to eat at the Hixson location for dinner, we were so impressed with the kindness that we were met with by a young man working the front counter, (Kevin) his smile was so welcoming and he was so polite from beginning to end, what a change from what I see in so many people today. He was so professional (not something you see offended) our food was great (fresh and hot) I knew immediately that I had to write a review !!
