At our Smyrna, TN location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

This place is a dump. Paid $70 for a seafood feast meal with 2 extra sides that were literally a scoop of okra and a scoop of coleslaw and didn’t even put in our pint of coleslaw that came with the meal. Didn’t care they messed up so DO NOT go to this location. No wonder their ratings are BAD!

Really am pleased with how the fish was very good was fresh and hot and hush puppies were all fresh. Everything was cooked to perfection and green beans were amazing. The manager was very friendly on my family visit. The last time we came it was the same service and food was good hot a fresh to.

Update…
They are not applying my rewards! I go often because the fish is delicious. But I am still at 19 points after going weekly, sometimes twice a week. Today I was told I can’t use Google pay ‍♀️I don’t have Google pay ‼️ I had to tell them I was earning points toward my order. Then I showed them my QR code again and read it out loud to the cashier.. They still didn’t understand ‍♀️. Then the cashier asked for my phone number. Then asked if I wanted to redeem free hush puppies. NO, I don’t like how this location cooks their hush puppies. I am trying to earn points for a free meal. After I told the cashier NO for the 6 free hush puppies she must have deleted and never applied new points for this order. Just like the last 5 times of placing $20 orders I am still at 19 points ‼️ ‍♀️ ‍♀️ I am not going to return for awhile. Food is fresh and delicious but service sucks and they are not giving me my points. I don’t know what they are doing with my points but no one is training the cashier’s how to apply. I’m done with them.

Hush puppies are always over cooked and have slight burnt taste. Always missing something from my orders. Might be utensils, hush puppies, slaw instead of fries etc etc. but the fish is awesome. And I like that big batter bits are always in the box.

3 women were very loud in the kitchen. One of the females named Erica. Laughing and carrying on probably disturbing customers eating. The cashier was very nice man, apologized for the loudness. Regardless if your close friends or acquaintances with your coworkers, you should still be professional. I’m hoping a manager was not in the middle of it. Either being a part or letting it happen.

This location has no employees or managers that know how to apply points during ordering process. I hand them my phone to scan the QR code. They can’t so I give them my phone number. They always ask if I want to redeem the free hush puppies but they never add my points. Over 10 visits that range from $15 to $29 A visit and I have 0 points with no NO redeemed items. Either they are stealing customers points or they have not been trained. They can see the free hush puppies so I think they are stealing my points. I told the manager about the missing points and she said she will talk to the regional manager. I doubt that will happen and I doubt I will get my points for this visit too. Fish is delicious but the customer service is nonexistent just like my missing points and rewards. They have to be taking customer points for themselves.

The lady and gentleman working at drive-thru window were just great – Very nice and polite. It goes downhill fast from there – The fish was okay, and the same for crabcakes, but the shrimp was HORRIBLE. It was overcooked, and tasted like it was possibly past it’s “sale-date.” Food-wise, worst experience ever at Captain D’s, and I’ve enjoyed their food for over 40 years. I’ll chalk this pick-up order as a “Fluke,” compared with the countless times I’ve been happy with the franchise!

Poor Service, Not Friendly, Never Open On Time….Sep1,2025 at the time of the store supposed to be opening your manager was sitting outside in his all black Ford Expedition truck of opening time. So I waited outside until we got the okay that the doors are open and we went in the lights were off, No Tea or anything was made 2 of the employees found it humorous the fact they wasnt even set up yet. And at that point I will not be spending my money here because your manager and employees doesn’t know the meaning of being promot with time, running a actual business, treating customers with respect regardless the circumstances. It’s sad and this is why we barely see Captain D’s because of poor, low quality, bad customer service, low work ethic coming from this location and I won’t be back until I see Captain D’s can find better Quality Managers and Employees.

I ordered a family meal with a baked potato added to the order. I posted $3 for a potato with cheese. This is the hard as a rock cheese I got on my under cooked potato. It was completely inedible.

First time to Captain D’s. Darius the Cashier was courteous and professional. Management came around and ask how everything was. Food- Cajun Catfish, green beans, coleslaw. With Sweet tea of course. It all tasted great! Place was friendly and I plan to visit back in when I’m town.
