At our Shelbyville, TN location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

I had the absolute worst experience! martha truly is the worst manager and it shows by how drained all the employees look. my food was late coming out and when I asked what happened all Martha did was yell at her employees! no matter how many complaints get sent about this store, nothing ever changes. i truly hope new management comes through and this place goes up from there. Martha is a horrible woman and manager! i won’t be back and you shouldn’t waste your time and money here whatsoever!

I had a good experience at this Captain D’s. I ordered the lobster bites, shrimp, and fish meal. All of my food was good. The employees were very nice and friendly as well. Our wait was about ten minutes for our food which I think is a decent time when waiting on fish. I would recommend checking for coupons in the mail before going because they can save you several dollars. The restaurant was clean in the dining area. I would go back for more!

My wife and I used to frequent this place and loved going here but we slacked off due to the quality of our meals. On this day approximately 12:30 pm Monday March 25, 2024 we revisited it in hopes of betterment. We were disappointed. The prices have skyrocketed which would be ok if the overall experience was good yet the helping size of the fish has decreased, the fries were not very hot nor crispy and the coleslaw was not very flavorful but after adding a small container of Tarter Sauce and Sweet and Sour sauce to the slaw, it was not half bad. Besides us dining there were only two other couples eating in and very little traffic at the drive through. We had the 2 Piece Batter Dipped Fish Meal and Sweet Tea. The service was good and the dining area was clean. The restrooms were not well looked after yet not bad.
We are sad in thinking we will not be going back for a long time if at all!

Only getting 2 stars becuase of the wonderful server Lilly. The manager on duty scared me quite frankly. She was kinda short, super skinny and looked very unwell. She also seemed a bit uneasy and very short tempered. I got nothing but attitude from her. Won’t be coming back!

The manager working tonight was extremely nice and thorough when packing the food. Food was good. Catfish is very fishy though. The store was very clean. I was impressed tonight compared to other times I’ve been here.

Martha makes a sport of yelling & cursing at the employees in front of customers. They’re all 1000 times better than I would be. If the turnover rate is high, she & the pay are probably the culprits. Spend your money at establishments that don’t condone or ignore this garbage.
