At our Valley, AL location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

I went through the drive thru in Valley on 2/9/26. I ordered my husband a grilled white fish plate. It cost 11.86. When the girl gave me the food I just put it in the seat and drove home to a Lanett address. When my husband opened his box it had a fried 2 piece fish and fries with the total being 6.59. He was having to watch what he ate for medical reasons and couldn’t eat anything fried. I got the box and when I got in the car to take it back I called to let them know that they gave me the wrong food. The 1st person that picked up hung up on me as soon as I told her what happened. I called right back and a different lady answered and said she knew that they gave me the wrong food and it was their fault. She said you can come back, and get the food that you ordered, we still have it. I let her know that I was on my way back but was coming from Lanett. She didn’t even apologize about it. I wanted to say something that wasn’t nice but held it in. When I got back to Captain d’s I parked and went in. The girl that gave me the wrong food was just standing there looking at me like I was crazy. The lady that answered the phone came and took the food that I had taken back and told the people in the back that the lady with the grilled fish is here. She still didn’t apologize for me having to drive all the way back to get the right food I ordered. There was only 1 man in the building that was waiting on a to go order. He got his order and left. I stood at the counter for a good 10 minutes waiting on my order. The girl that gave me the wrong food was just walking around and then walked to unplug her cell phone that she had plugged up charging. I had been there about nine minutes by then and was getting madder and madder watching them. I finally said you could have approached for giving me the wrong food. She looked at me and said I’m new. I said we all make mistakes but I had already drove home and had to come back because you gave me the wrong food. She just looked away, grabbed her phone and went to the back. The other lady looked at me and said, how long on the grilled fish. She got my food and handed it to me and didn’t apologize either. I was furious by the time I got back home. We definitely won’t be going back there anytime soon!

Been here a couple of time it’s been hit and miss but today my fish is still cold and raw. My fries are way under cook and taste like dirt. Like most places it’s all in who’s working but whomever is working today apr 18 at 11 am needs to be fired cuz that’s just unacceptable.

Clean, friendly Captain D’s. Easily seen from hi way with quick in and out. The fish sandwich we got was a little on the greasy side but that’s pretty normal with most Captain D’s fast food places unless they have good fry cooks and keep the cooking oil changed out. The restrooms were clean and only saw one fly during our visit. The outside and inside premises was clean looking. There was one try return area with the garbage can full and in need of emptying.

Guys just went to Captain D’s and let me tell you I was so impressed there was a lady there named Deatrus Sands what a wonderful personality and an amazing lady man she just brightened up my day and the food man smells so good everything looks so good and fresh if you’re looking to go and try another experience and you’re not used to going to Captain D’s Miss sands makes this a great little seafood place everybody else there was friendly she even offered to run out to the car because I left too early and I had some cracklins that I forgot man I am so impressed and so proud I stopped everybody when you’re in the Valley area make sure you go by this place and if Miss sands is working there make sure you tell her how good a job she’s doing people like that need to hear it with a smile on her face and everybody’s her love what a sweet sweet woman and what a wonderful example of how we all should be. I’m a pastor and I believe she just inspired Sunday service

The food is good. The staff hate being there and refuse to keep the store open the hours it says it’s open. I tried to go back the next day after the owner apologized to give them another chance. They only gave me one piece of fish in the box I give up on this place. Drive 30 mins for what’s supposed to be the best fish in town to get let down over and over. I give

Lady at the window bad attitude!! Horrible telling people to hurry up cause she got to go home! Shoves my food almost like throwing it in my hand ! Awful service! If she’s the owner shes horrible!! She talk to customers like dogs!!! Lightskin short cut! Y’all can say she sweet as pie but nope that’s a lie! I give energy and when she immediately has an attitude I gave it back! The cook can’t cook everything I said did the opposite! Take your money some place else!!!
