Social Profile:

At our Demopolis, AL location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

I’ve seen a lot of these in my travels and today decided to try one. First off let me say the woman working the counter was very friendly and courteous and my food came out quickly. I ordered the ultimate lobster bites and shrimp plate. The coleslaw was good and everything was fried well and not greasy. The portions were large. The seafood itself was mediocre at best. All of it tasted like it came from a bargain store freezer case. The hush puppies were heavy and doughy, the fries limp. I also ordered the lobster bisque and it had a weird taste to it.

Traveling home, stopped stretch my legs and a a quick meal. I love eating at Captain D’s usually. This experience literally left a bad taste in my mouth. I was not greeted as usual. I was not asked if I was dining in or take out. I looked at the menu and decided to have clam strips of which I had not had before and a baked potato with sour cream and butter. With tartar sauce. Sweet tea. She gave me a ticket still without saying a word. Shortly later she walked to the open cut out window by my table and threw a brown paper bag on my table. Not reaching through the window and sitting on table but throwing it. A little perturbed at this point. I opened my bag only to find a half done baked potato, no butter, no sour cream, no tartar sauce for the clam strips. I went back to the counter to ask for butter, sour cream and tartar sauce. Waiting while she waited on cars at the window. The requested the items, they were brought and slapped down on the counter, still not saying anything. Went back to my table to put condiment on my potato. Potato cold, butter wouldn’t melt and very few clam strips in the box. Very upset withe the whole meal deal. The clam strips were delicious. I just wish it was a larger serving. The counter associate needs to be retrained in customer service. When I left she was out front on her cellphone talking about someone getting fired. I thought it was very ironic. My advice, drive the few extra miles to Selma, when traveling. I’ve never had poor service or bad food there. Demopolis, I’m writing off my stopping point when traveling.

Good service and delicious food. It was my first time eating at Captain D’s and the food was great. I had the lemon pepper fish with mac and cheese and okra.

The young lady who took my order on November 26th was noticeably rude and lacked even the most basic customer service skills. I get that everyone is trying to work and make a living, but if you choose a job in the food industry—especially one where you interact with customers all day—you should at least make an effort to be polite and professional.

Customer service isn’t optional. It’s part of the job description. A simple greeting, a decent attitude, and basic respect go a long way. Unfortunately, none of that was shown during my visit, and it definitely affected my experience.

Came through drive-thru, three cars in front of us. Waited five minutes, said hello a few times- no response. Some acknowledgement of “please wait” would’ve been sufficient.

Refried fries, old fish, missing sides. Long drive thru time and manager couldn’t get order right after repeating 4 times. Then we get to wait more because they didn’t have order correct. While waiting noticed sons cheese sticks missing after all her mistakes… she had the gall to ask me for my receipt to make sure I paid for them. Finally when the rest of my order came… they forgot to cook something else to complete on my order. I just left.

Appearances were deceiving. Once inside the cashier took our order. After I asked for a baked potato she said that machine was down. We were not offered drinks, she just rang up the total. Then we said we want drinks, only to find out the ice machine was broken. We proceeded to the dining room. All of tables and booths were filthy but two. The floor was slippery in the dining room and in the bathroom. The food was good, it was hot cooked well. I drank my own beverage instead of ordering a beverage from the restaurant. Demopolis is a small town, please fix this place up so out of town folks can stop by and enjoy a nice meal in a clean place. This seems like an accident waiting to happen.

This is a nice place to eat, it’s been established for over 20 years now, and still has some of the early employees, so the service is pretty exceptional. It’s always clean, and it’s just a nice place to eat if you like Cap’n D’s, or if you’re trying it for the first time. I’ve noticed that in the last two years, or since Covid, that the portions are considerably, or much, much smaller than they used to be, but watcha’ gonna do? I still give them 5 stars for their nice, friendly service and cleanliness.
Can I get a thumbs up!? ❤️

Service was very good, even though their was only one person running the front counter. She was accurate, fast, polite!! Our order was correct, fresh and hot!! There was a line of at least 8 cars and she worked it down with ease and good humor!! Definitely worth the wait!!

Rainy Friday night this February 2020. Well it took an hour in the drive thru!! Staff very friendly although the slowest experience in my life. We are in a small rural town. Our order was missing a $12 meal after 1 hour of waiting with my 3 and 5 year old Grands, and my 73 year old mother. Food was very good. Just know if you are not in a hurry, give yourself 30-60 minutes 🙂 Thank You
