Social Profile:

At our Foley, AL location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

I went to Captain D’s in Foley Alabama today before going to the zoo with my kids and husband. I had already picked them all up Burger King but because I have recently found out I can’t have gluten (I get terrible migraines from it) and I’ve been pescatarian since I was 19 (I’m now 36) my options for eating out are extremely limited. When I came through drive through I was helped by Latasha who went above and beyond to recommend great options for me that I could eat. When I pulled to the window she offered to cook my meal herself which I know she didn’t have to do. I doubt she knew what the side effects of eating gluten are for someone like me and she wanted to make sure I enjoyed my food. I adored her, it honestly made me emotional. I wanted to tip her but I didn’t have cash and I know tips aren’t really a thing on drive through anyway. The fish was exceptional! If for any reason a meal gets contaminated by gluten I usually will get a migraine within 15 minutes and guess what? I didn’t get one. Amazing. Latasha should be recognized for caring so much about others. It’s so rare nowadays to find anyone in fast food who even halfway does their job but Latasha absolutely nailed being professional and kind. Thank you Latasha! 🙂

Staff and service were outstanding.
Atmosphere is typical fast food vibes.
The food was pretty mid…priced high.
Probably won’t return here.
The place is clean though.

Overall it was a pleasant experience. Ordering was easy, the restaurant was clean, the staff was friendly, and the food was hot. My only complaint would be the menu. I understand not having the price listed as seafood tends to fluctuate constantly. Still, it would be easier for the customers and the staff to say give me a number one three-piece versus the menu option’s name. That and the $3.30 I got charged for a large drink…woof. I haven’t eaten at a Captain D’s in decades and thought it strange one was opening here in foley, so close to the coast and local gulf seafood, but the place has been packed every day I drive home from work. So I finally decided to stop and see what all the fuss was about.

LaTosha and Shelia are GREAT!!! The food and service was the best I have had at any restaurant in a long time. Food was fresh and hot. Dinning room, drink, condiment areas were all very clean. Been years since I we ate at Captain D’s but will make it a regular stop anytime we are in Foley. They both deserve a big raise $$$ and Thank you both.

First time here. I got a kids meal: popcorn shrimp and fries, which were ok, I would’ve expected more fries than what they actually gave, I’ve attached a pic. The second plate I got was the butterfly shrimp with hushpuppies and fries: the shrimp were super good, hushpuppies were alright, fries were alright. I went through the drive thru, paid, got a bag to realize it was the wrong order. I went back, and then had to make sure I got my full correct order as the employee was still forgetting to give me the rest of my order. So just double check your order before leaving! The employees weren’t rude or anything so that helps.

We tried their fried two piece fish meal senior special, which came with two sides, two hush puppies and a drink for $7.99. I chose the green beans and fries. Food was served promptly and was hot, fresh and delicious! Staff was pleasant and we would gladly return!

Stopped in for some fried clams. Clams were ok, but the tartar sause was absolutely disgusting. It appeared to be old and was just gross. So I asked for some packets, figuring that’d be better, but was told they couldn’t give me any, and the nice gal at the counter just handed me some that’d been refrigerated. That tasted better, but still icky. We live in Gulf Shores, eat up that way in Foley all the time, and won’t be back. Look, if you’re a seafood place and can’t provide a decent tartar sause, then that’s just pathetic.

Nope! Nope! Nope! I’m 6’2 so I could see over the petition… I pretended to go to the bathroom but quickly came out. He didn’t know I was watching and picked up the food(precooked fish) with his bare hands then continued to prepare the rest of my plate with his bare hands… once he noticed I was watching he put a glove on one hand… do they not have cameras in the back? This is absolutely crazy… eat here at your own risk!

Stopped in at 8pm and they were closed. Supposed to be open till after 10pm. Next time, everyone acted like it was a chore to have to take order and cook the food. Get better management. The guy that used to manage this place was wonderful.
