At our Vestavia, AL location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

I wish I could say something good about this Captain D’s and the only thing I can come up with is I like their bread sticks. Plus there was plenty of parking seeing we were the only ones there. The captain d’s in my home town is 10X better.

Been here a couple of times after bad experiences elsewhere. The dining room is open even at night which doesn’t seem like the case at some locations. Employees are friendly here and the food is served hot!

What $8.01 gets you now adays. Drive thru worker was nice. but these okra was so ridiculously Salty it was inedible esp for a kid. Hush puppies & fish were very old grease tasting. I swore I’d never be back and I decided to try again and it def solidified the sentiment. I wish anyone in the hoover Vestavia hills had fast food worth paying the crazy marked up prices for.

Went through the drive through and the employee will only let you order one item before giving your total and asking you to pull around, over and over again with each item. Got home and did not have my $11 worth of shrimp in the bag (2 skewers) and my grilled fish meal had a total of maybe two teaspoons of cooked rice under the fish. Went back to get my skewers the next day and the employee at the front was very nice and getting things done and customers taken care of, however the cooks and staff in the back were cussing about how much stuff was laying around and one was verbally irritated when a customer after me had a large order. I really wish the staff were better here because the food is pretty good for fast food, however the staff are insufferable.

Picked up two dinners. The potato as shown in the picture was completely rotten! The balance of the food was fine. This location doesn’t have heavy traffic but their drive thru service is always extremely slow.

Walked in the door the place was completely empty. Two employees laughing and joking looking at a cell phone. I was completely ignored. I waited about five minutes and a young man came from the back of the store looking at his phone, but then he stopped to help. Attempted to take my order. Then something was wrong with the register. By then I was just frustrated and felt like I had already wasted so much time trying to get some food to eat that I just left. I haven’t been to this location in a few years, but it used to be top-notch. It’s unfortunate to see how much it’s rundown now
