At our Sylacauga, AL location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

My husband and I came in 5 mins until close thinking that they closed at 11:00. Anyway, the precious young lady that was working the cash register was so kind and reassured us that we did not inconvenience them and that we should not worry about being so late. Her name was Zion and she had the kindest and most welcoming disposition. She was such a gentle soul and made us feel like we were appreciated customers. The lady who I believe was the manager also was very kind and professional. I didn’t catch her name but they both represented Captain D’s with having exceptional customer service skills. This was our 3rd visit to this location and every single time we have been blown away with kindness and genuineness displayed by the staff. This is the third review that I have left out of three visits….of course from 3 separate accounts. Good job Zion! You really blessed my heart with your willingness to display such a positive and caring attitude.

My husband and I stopped in 45 mins until close. We were greated by the most welcoming and kind cashier. He was a young man and was extremely professional and he handled his job like a skilled pro. He was personable, made eye contact and carried himself like a man with character. I only write reviews for the ones that STAND OUT AND SHINE BRIGHT….and Quen definitely did that! He made my night just being in his presence for the 5 minutes that it took us to get our carry out meal. Captain D’s should be honored and proud to have an employee like Quen. Good job,Quen! You matter and you made a lasting impact ln me❤️ Keep being you and you will help many hurting humans with your kindness and being present in your interactions.

Got to be the worst Cap. D’s ever. Last 3 visits the food was garbage. Even told the mngr on my most recent and I still got garbage. Okra was dry cold and old, broccoli was old, fish was cold, crabs were dry and old. Everytime it’s the same. I don’t mind waiting for food, I do mind paying $24 dollars for garbage.

While in town we stopped in for a bite. Been several time and always a pleasant experience. when I tell you the staff is overly helpful and kind here I mean it. They made me feel like family. The food is as alway delicious and consistent. Everything was cooked to order and the meal was great. The interior was clean with everything you could need was there for the asking. Thank you Sylacauga Captain D’s you are a cut above the rest.

There was mold on the walls and stains on every single booth. Service was terrible, not a single smile and felt very rushed. The food came out hot and was good, but it made us nervous with how dirty the front was, if the back was worse and how the food was being made and in what condition. This is not the first time I’ve had an experience here like this. There was also a foul smell coming from the bathroom that permeated the rest of the lobby.

My husband and I stopped here five minutes before close and we had a wonderful experience solely based on our interaction with the most precious employee. Her name was Malia and she was kind, compassionate, and we truly felt cared for and important because having a genuine conversation with anyone, much less a stranger who is minutes away from getting off work and is likely to be exhausted is extremely rare. She was relatable, genuine and gave us her full attention and didn’t make us feel like she was in a hurry or watching the clock. Nothing about the interaction was fake. Because of Malia and her kind and loving heart we were reminded of Gods love, faithfulness, and goodness in the form of a young 26 yr old who gave up her dreams to take care of her grandmother. Captain Ds should be proud to have such a great employee that cares about her customers. You made our night Malia!!!

Drive thru worker was sweet but the other employee was rude as ever and then tried to tell me not to be hateful . All I wanted was tartar sauce and even said that I would pay for it and she made a big deal out of it and had to give it to me for free.

Manager was left in kitchen by herself to make all the food so she was left with having to cook food while greeting the customer the little teenage girl and the Chilberg shirt was too busy being on the phone and giggling to actually acknowledge customers upfront, then continue to let the food be dropped on the countertop
