At our Pelham, AL location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

My experience here was pretty good to be honest. The front end cashier/attendant was very nice and she seemed like she really likes her job. My food was fresh,hot, and tasted good. Establishment was clean for the most part and really don’t have a complaint for this visit

Captain D’s on 119 is my favorite stop on the way home! The food is always fresh, their meal deals are great and the customer service is wonderful! Despite the traffic around 4:30, it’s easy to get out thanks to the traffic light. If you haven’t tried their original fish, you must—it’s delicious!

On a scale of 1 to 10 I give this particular Captain D’s a 10 , my food has been consistently perfect every single time I go to eat , for some where around a year , I go here about every month or two …
The fries are hot and crispy and slaw cool and fresh , crunchy warm hushpuppies and my grilled fish is hot and cooked just right , and I want to thank these guys that are cooking up this good food …

Literally just left this location and the drive thru was wrapped around the building so I went in. It took about 10 minutes to take my order even though I was the only person waiting to order. Eventually a guy in a blue shirt came out the back with an attitude and attempted to argue with me about what I usually order. I let it go and when I finally received my food it wasn’t hot and the fish looks like it was bitten (pic attached). The hush puppies were not chewable they were hard like a rock. I would go back for a refund but I was only on my lunch break and didn’t have a pleasant experience I won’t be back. I would advise everyone to save your money and go elsewhere.

UPDATE: I echo ALL of the other negative reviews. I hate to add one, BUT.

I used to love this location when Mr. Highland was here. 10 out of 10 times, when I order now, my food comes out in kids meal portions. The door is locked most of the time. It takes so long just to make an order in drive thru and especially inside. The wait is unreal to place an order inside, with just 1 or person or no one in front of you. You never know what the hours are and when they will not be serving anymore even though the lights are on and no-one is at the front of the house or visible in the back. 98% of the time my fish is not fried well and my orders have something wrong so I try to go inside. 98% of the time the lobby is closed. And the fish batter is usually under done. This has been my experience since EVERY single time for the last 2 yrs. I have given a second chance every time many times over, but WOW. Sad. I attached the picture of one of my orders. The sides are half of what they were. Again kids sized. SMH. ☹️

I ordered fish with a side of okra. The okra was cold and old. Not sure how that happened when that’s a special item. Very odd. The two ounce tartar sauce contain they gave was half full and not enough for one whole piece of fish. This fish broken into pieces when I got it. Which was okay. I gave a score of three because I wasn’t in line long and the fish was hot.
