At our Leesburg, FL location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

I spent $70 on food to get what was supposed to be a4 pc chic tender meal which liked like a 1 tender& 3 nugget meal as well as a8 pc mozzarella sticks to dissolve when touched into a blob of greasy cheese ( but it didn’t even look like cheese. I am very disappointed and will never spend my money there again!

Absolutely LOVED everything..! The fish was excellent.. Light & crispy-crunchy batter and the fish tasted fresh like it had just been caught..!.. AMAZING ! The hush puppies were super good.. The coleslaw & green beans with nice pieces of pork were so good & tasty as well. They also got the delicious malt vinegar that I love to sprinkle on the fish, puppies and fries.

I’ve probably driven past here every day since I moved to Leesburg in July. I always tell myself that I should try this restaurant out. Well today a friend recommended that I check it out. So here I am trying out their ultimate Shrimp Dinner. Even though it includes hush puppies and fish, it is a pretty good meal. Their menu also included a lot of Lobster selections.
This first Shrimp meal was surprisingly done well. Bottom line, I WILL BE BACK to check out their entire menu selection.

Dirty everything, spent $19+ on fish and shrimp and jalapeño poppers! All bad. Got sick afterwards! Avoid unless you like overpriced and over fried food! Even the crusty shrimp were awful! Used to love Captain D’s, not this poorly managed excuse for a restaurant!

The girl behind the counter was very nice and helpful. They didn’t have battered shrimp prepared so they substituted butterfly shrimp then brought out battered shrimp when they were ready. The food was crispy and fresh.

Today I decided that I wanted to find a Captain D’s in the area because I have just relocated to the area. I read all of the comments on the Leesburg Captain D’s including several unhappy people with the food and service. I decided to go anyway and I am very happy I did the service was great and the food was better. I shall return.

I tried the new promotion. Spicy Fish with shrimp. If I had to pay more than $5.99 for this dish I would have taken it back. The fish was cooked ahead of time and was soggy. The breading was the consistency of pancakes. And the shrimp was mixed , fresh properly cooked pieces , mixed with overcooked shrimp that had been sitting. I know because I’m a chef. The green beans and broccoli were good. Peace

I’ve ordered for my family from this Captain D’s location twice. We haven’t been to another Captain D’s before, but we’ve had fast-food seafood and everything usually tastes like it’s been fried in the same oil. Captain D’s food tastes like almost all of it is cooked separately and you can taste their flavoring for each dish. There are few foods that my family doesn’t like here, but we each differ and like some the other may not. The drive-thru hasn’t taken long for me either time I’ve ordered and service was good. Captain D’s app also gives a free slice of cake on your bday.
