The food is great and the employees are so welcoming! They smile, they greet and they make sure to repeat my order in case something is missed. Atmosphere feels great in there. Lots of customers all the time and you seem them smile and laugh enjoying their time there and the food. Feels like a big huge hang out haha. Love going here. My family and I only go once a month or once every two months but thats because we don’t always want seafood and the price is a little high. For two people your looking at about $35 depending on what you get but its worth it.

Ordered online. Called the restaurant first to see how that worked because I wasn’t sure if I had to sit in the drive thru or park. She was super friendly and told me to just park when I got there and call, and someone would bring my food out. I do that, they bring out one bag. I knew this couldn’t be right after I had ordered $32 worth of food. Checked the bag and my dinner was the only thing there, with the two shrimp skewers I ordered for my husband. I call the store and they act like they may die because they didn’t make the order right and had to come back again. She says someone will bring the rest of the order out in a few. 15 minutes later, my food is cold, they bring out hubby’s sandwich and fries and the hush puppies I ordered.
I ordered classic Chesapeake seasoned grilled salmon. I get home, it’s blackened. So spicy I couldn’t eat it. Hush puppies were so hard I could have thrown one and knocked a hole in the wall. My husband ordered the giant fish sandwich with fries. I specifically asked what was on that before I ordered, and was told tartar sauce, lettuce, and cheese if I paid for it. I told them fine, add cheese. The sandwich just had cheese. Nothing else, just cheese and fish. Fries turned into a mixture of fries and okra. Hubby doesn’t eat okra so all of it got trashed. His shrimp skewers? Burnt! The entire order was trashed and after $32, we went to bed and said forget it. It was horrible. Never again, and we used to go there pre-pandemic at least once a week. This is my last time, and there won’t be another.

I never tried this restaurant before. It was good. It would have been better, i think, if i would have ordered the meal i initially wanted; i just made a mistake and ordered something a bit different. The long fish planks were very good, as well as the fried okra. This place reminds me of Long John Silvers, which i like. But, i appreciated the extra variety – the fried okra and the green beans were great sides.
The lady who waited on me was also quite nice. I didnt expect here to bring me my food and then also dipping sauces, but she did, and i very much appreciated her.

From original post: “First time I ever had a less than pleased experience. Ordered food online for pick up. 10 piece fish family meal with 4 piece chicken added on. 7 of the 10 pieces of fish looked darker than the normal golden colored. Fish was also a little greasy. I realized that the fish was most likely cooked in oil that should have already been replaced.” I originally made this review One Star but after coming across it when reviewing my Google Contributions, I realized I was unfair in my One Star post. I have been eating at this location since I was a child. That is because they always made excellent food! I preordered on line and picked up in the drive thru. When using the drive thru, you should always check both the accuracy and quality of your food. If anything is off, give the business an opportunity to make it right. I have never had a business that didn’t. I DID NOT check the order before leaving. I am more than sure they would have gave me new fish had I checked my box and been unhappy with my order. As a Google user and one that often leaves reviews, I need to rember to NEVER leave a review immediately after an experience. That’s when we are using emotions more than our heads. The power of just one bad review given unfairly can cost a restaurant business. Yes, my comments about the food were correct but I never gave Captain D’s an opportunity to make it right before leaving my review. That is why my review was unfair. That is also why I am hoping that editing my review will do two things: 1) make all consumers realize the impact we have when leaving reviews and how we share responsibility for our satisfaction when doing business with anyone. It’s a two way street. Communicate with the business and always give them an opportunity to make you happy. You’ll find that just abought every business will do just that, make you happy, when given the chance. 2) Make right a wrong on my part. My total experience with this Captain D’s is a FIVE STAR experience. There is a reason that I have eaten there since a child. They have the absolute BEST fish and all the food, the sides and etc. are always fresh and hot. I will just have to make sure that I remember to not be in such a big hurry when going through the drive thru and always check my order before leaving the parking lot.

Biggest pet-peeve is when fast-food restaurants close the store early and force patrons to the drive-thru.

Waited a longtime and then the shrimp were over cooked in my scampi. Could have been cajun but they tasted burnt.

Went through the drive thru and this is how my meal looked when I got home. Thank you for that and thank you for not bothering to answer the telephone when I tried to call you. After a long work day I sure did love they way you served my food … upside down in the bag.
