At our Gainesville, GA location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

I had a great experience at Captain D’s Restaurant, Store #3873! The entire team was professional, welcoming, and made me feel genuinely appreciated as a customer. A huge shoutout to the DM, Scott, for running such an amazing store and delivering awesome service.
Kayla was an excellent cashier—friendly, patient, and very professional. Sheila absolutely nailed it with the rice, it was fresh and delicious. And Cynthia really stood out by helping me decide what to order when I was unsure—she was knowledgeable and made the process easy.
The teamwork and positive energy in this location really made a difference. I truly appreciated how welcome I felt, and because of that experience, I will definitely be returning. Keep up the great work!

It’s been a long while since me and my family had eaten Captain D’s. With the start of the Lent season, we decided to order takeout from our local franchise. It was a cold and rainy day, but our spirits were up when we could smell that delicious fish. We were surprised to see how much the prices for family meals had gone up with the family feast now costing $34.99. Nevertheless, we decided to get that with our 2 sides being fries and coleslaw. The people up front were cordial and swift with getting our order. As for the meal, it was delicious! The fried fish has always been a go to along with the hush puppies. The crab was ok for the most part as well as the sides. Overall, a good meal for the 3 of us.

Absolutely awful. I’m done with Captain D’s. The last time I visited a Captain D’s (in the Houston, TX area) it was terrible. I chalked it up (mercifully) to it being late in the evening, near closing time. This visit was in Gainesville, GA in the middle of the afternoon (1:33PM, according to the receipt) and supposedly we had to wait “while the food was being cooked”. When I got back to my office with the much-anticipated meal, the fries were completely cold, the fish and chicken were both cooked so tough that I literally couldn’t tell which I was eating, and the fish “plank” should have been labeled a “fish fry” as it was literally the width of two french fries side-by-side. Since I’m diabetic, and shouldn’t have been eating this stuff to begin with, it was a simple matter – after taking a few bites – to throw it ALL in the trash and chalk it up to a very expensive $18 lesson learned. The staff were friendly enough – I don’t order fast food to build a social relationship – and the woman who was cooking at least yelled out an apology for the wait, but all that aside, there was absolutely no reason the food should have been this bad. It was terrible, and I’ve learned my lesson. I’m done with Captain D’s.

Terrible!!
The fish was dry, the hush puppies were very hard and overcooked, the shrimp was good but over breaded. I got tea to drink but then poured it out because it tasted moldy. I will never go back to this location.

Battered fish tasted like old burnt grease, hushpuppies were burnt, the mac and cheese, okra, broccoli, potatoe, and coleslaw all tasted like nasty old fish smell, it was so weird. Yea sometimes non fish items have a fishy tint to the taste, these tasted more like fish than the fish did. It made me and my family sick to our stomachs

This is a good little place for the money. The girl was broke so they couldn’t make my senior grilled fish. However I got the other fish and it was really good. I also got four shrimps on the side in millersville. For vegetables I have broccoli and green beans to get my Greenage.

I’ve ate here before long ago and was excited to go eat here again but I was disappointed that the okra was under fried, my spicy fish was warm and seemed like it had sat out too long. The shrimp were great and the extra fish was done right along with the potato. Store was clean and that’s always a plus
