At our McDonough, GA location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

Amazing experience at Captain D’s!
Stopped in for a quick meal and was honestly impressed. The food came out hot, fresh, and way better than I expected for fast seafood. The batter was light and crispy, the fish tasted great, and the sides were on point—especially the hushpuppies. The restaurant was clean, and the staff were friendly and fast. Perfect spot when you want something tasty without a long wait. Definitely coming back!
In addition, I was given 1 piece of fish and 4 pieces of chicken instead of the 2 pieces of fish as advertised. Not worth the hassle of going back to correct them. I’ll just stay away. I suggest others do the same.
First impressions still matter. This is a new location and this is how they are operating already. Not happy.
The food was very good. I would have been happy with the little half ear of corn that I had expected without the extra charge.
Their okra is perfect and cooked fresh to order, so expect to wait a minute.
Not sure what is happening here. When it opened, it was always busy. I know they had staffing problems for a while. Now it seems to often be a ghost town. I hope people come back so we don’t lose them!
Today, around 6 p.m., my husband went through the drive-thru to pick up dinner. (It’s Thanksgiving Eve, and we didn’t feel like cooking.) Unfortunately, our experience was terrible. For starters, our orders were wrong—I asked for fried okra and received a dried-out baked potato instead. When I tried to eat my fish, shrimp, and hush puppies, they were so salty I couldn’t get through them. Both the fish and shrimp were mushy, and the broccoli was cold.
My husband also received a dried-out baked potato, and his shrimp were mushy as well. The cheese sticks and my kids’ chicken tenders were undercooked and super dark. The mac and cheese looked like it had been scraped from the bottom of the pan—it was burnt and unappetizing. The fries were rock-hard, and my children couldn’t eat their meals either.
We were so frustrated that we had to turn around and spend another $50 ordering from Chick-fil-A just to have dinner. This experience was incredibly disappointing and a waste of money!
My food (2 piece with fries and hushpuppies) was not cooked fresh nor hot; as they said they take pride in!
The lady at the window was not the best friendly either!
This was a waste of my cravings !
Come on, keep up the cooked to order and keep me a happy regular customer!
