Social Profile:

At our Locust Grove, GA location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

I should’ve paid closer attention to the reviews. The food was horrible. Not only was I given fish that was very clearly old, but it was fried in old dirty oil. Burnt pieces of batter coated my fish. Mind you, this was around 3pm on a Sunday, they weren’t busy at all. So what reason would they have to not give me fresh food? I’ve been to two other Captain D’s location in the last three weeks and this is by far the worst. The food is about as neglected as the store looks. A waste of money and time.

Update: I called the store to explain the issues with the order and where they did take the time to explain I found it really odd that the “manager” couldn’t stop laughing while on the phone with me. I expect this much from this area but whatever, I digress.

Came here on 9/30 around 9:30pm. I understand they close at 10:00, but if you’re open please serve edible food! I spent $23 on BURNT FISH & cold Fries!! Normally in the day time this place is good, but tonight was extremely disappointing. I didn’t look at my food while I was in the drive thru, I got home & say this MESS! I was going to go back but I knew they were closed. I want my money back or at least another 2 plates!!

The restaurant was very clean the two times I’ve been here. Stayed away for a long time but something has changed. I assume new management. Either way, the restaurant is clean, service I received was good. Food was cooked to order so a little wait but I will do that any day for hot and fresh vs cold and stale.

This location was good before, not sure what has changed. I was there a few weeks ago with family members. It smelled terrible. I went into the restroom and it was very dirty. When I looked for ketchup, there were two very sticky packs in the dispenser. (I told the gentlemen behind the counter that more ketchup was needed, to which he barely responded.) Everything I touched was sticky – the table, the back of the chair, the condiment holders. The fried shrimp and breads ticks tasted odd. If I needed something, like a sauce or a to-go box, it took a long time to attract the attention of the people behind the counter, they saw me standing there but took a long time to see what I needed. Won’t be going back.

The food was greasy and cold but the service was good. The dining room was really dirty and the restaurant could use an update. It served the purpose for calories while on the road but I was not impressed.

This review is specifically about Captain D’s ‘fried pickles” or what they are trying to pass off as such….my advice to Captain D’s, just DON’T!
Besides the looks which are enuff, they are AWEFUL!

And just don’t eat inside either.

Otherwise the Fried catfish was pretty good.

About sick of how poorly run this restaurant is ran. I ordered Mac and cheese and baked potatoe. How are you going to give a potato with no butter or sour cream. The fish was nasty and the crab tasted like it was recooked in dirty oil. And then absolutely leave my Mac and cheese out? Find someone who can read or run a store because what you have is not it. It will not let me post a picture.

The fish was fresh and hot. Best green beans around. Love their corn on the cob too! And the young lady that I assume was the manager, was great! Very pleasant and helpful. Let’s go with six stars!
