A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

I ordered a two piece fish and fries and got wayyyy more crumbs than anything on the plate. The fries were cold and not edible. DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU GET FOOD POISONING AFTER WAITING 20 mins!!!!

I’ve been coming to Captain D’s on and off for years, and I don’t know what changed, but the fish just isn’t the same anymore. It used to have that light, crispy coating and a clean, flaky texture inside. Lately, it tastes different—almost like the recipe or the oil has changed. The flavor is a little off, and the texture feels heavier than it used to.

The staff was polite enough and the place looked reasonably clean, so I’m giving it two stars instead of one. But the main reason I go to Captain D’s is for the fish, and it just doesn’t hit the way it used to. I’m hoping they get back to that old quality, because that’s what kept me coming in the first place.

My wife pulls up to order at the drive thru. After a long day at work handling children, this should have been easy. She orders, then is told it will be 20+ minutes until it’s ready. After what ended up being about 30 minutes, she gets the order and apparently observed an employee verify that it was correct. Instead of holding the line up any more, she felt confident that it was correct and drove home (mistake).
Upon arrival at home, on the oakbrook side of Summerville, we removed our dinner from the carry out bag. She ordered 2 deluxe seafood platters with the added sides, and an extra order of shrimp. My dinner was complete but her’s was missing 2 crabs and the shrimp. Somehow I also ended up having 3 fish sticks, because that’s about what they are now days, and she had 2. Is it worth the drive back? No, because we believe that our problem would fallen on deaf ears, and the frustration of even having to do that would have been unproductive at arrival.
We’ve lived here in the area for about 30 years. Captain D’s has been hit and miss over the past 5 or more years, but for some stupid reason, we keep giving it another chance. With the cost of these 2 meals and extra sides, you would just hope that the personnel involved with it’s assembly would be a little more aware of what the right and left hands are doing.
Hopefully this may sway those of you on the fence about visiting this particular restaurant to really decide if this is where you want to eat next time. I guess we’ll wait about 6 months and try again. We really want to like it, but this isn’t the first or second time something like this has happened. Way too many dining options around town. I’m clearly seeing that the caliber of worker bees is taking a dive and that seems to be the norm now.

2 customers sitting inside restaurant so they r not slammed busy inside. Im still sitting in drive through 25 minutes now. I should have known better. This place is always so slow. Ive moved 3 car spaces in this length of time and one space is because one car drive off. One car took almost 15 min to move up and the other car moved about 5 min after I pulled in. And i still have not ordered. If I wasn’t sent to get this id leave. We will see what happens when I finally get to order. . Nevermind im leaving. This car has been sitting at speaker for 10 minutes and havent even ordered. The car in front of them is at the window. Wow!

Just don’t order from here until if/when they can get their stuff together. Our order was supposed to be ready at 1:49pm. My husband arrived at 1:46pm and did not get any food until about 2:40. Almost an hour AFTER our food was supposed to be ready. They evidently made the wrong meal but instead of just dropping some chicken tenders for us to make it right, they tore our meal apart to fix all the other meals they had messed up and made us wait for them to re-make our entire order. While my husband was there waiting, he witnessed a delivery driver return a meal because they sent the wrong meal to a customer’s house and the customer sent it back. They tried to turn around and send that same food with another driver to another house! It’s obvious this location has some serious staffing and/or management issues and they don’t even do anything to try to make up for the terrible experience.

Some prices good some aren’t but $3.00 for a small fountain drink like you at the fair is really ridiculous and they don’t have but 4 choices from Pepsi and lemonade and no combos come with a drink but the captain combos 3 choices I don’t know i just feel like drinks are ridiculous priced here

DO NOT GO HERE unless you are willing to wait for.over an hour for your cold food. Most of the time was spent behind the car directly in front of me. Called in while waiting in line. The young.lady was pleasant but could not tell me when the next car would pull up.

Absolutely horrible experience. Asked repeatedly for 2 minutes at the drive thru if anyone was there. Said “one minute please” 3 minutes later asked again. Had 0 personality and food took forever. No one was even in the drive thru which leads me to believe that this is a regular issue. Handed the food to me with zero communication. Who is running this restaurant???

This is a very busy location, especially during the Easter/Lent season. The service is pretty slow, it took about 20 minutes to get our food waiting inside. We went on a Friday after 7:00 pm. The employees were okay, the guy that took our order seemed like he hated being there, his attitude was not the best. But the ladies that brought us our food were nicer with better customer service. The food was good, it tasted like it had good quality, you don’t get a drink with your meal so you have to order that separate. The dining area is an average size. If you’re looking for a quick bite don’t come during the usual busy time because it won’t be quick.

Dirty store.
Old grease .the grease tasted so old and the burnt crumbs from the old grease was stuck onto my hushpuppies. All the food tasted like old grease.we had to throw the food away.
