At our Hickory, NC location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

We did not get all the food we ordered, we ordered premium sides they charge $1.09 extra each for and got a very small portion. The broiled fish was dried out and hard on one side. I asked for a manager but one never came, so I would not recommend this location. This was a big disappointment for nearly $40 for three meals that was not very good.

Good experience 1st time visit. This is a place where locals go to eat. Resturant was clean . The food was good. The only con was it seemed they may have been cooking staff orders were on the slower side but not unreasonable.

I purchased the sampler meal worth chicken fish and shrimp with fries and am order of mozzarella cheese sticks and I asked for honey mustard and cocktail when I was handed our food and was told no thar some sauce in the bag which was only ketchup and tarter sauce then my son goes to take a bite of the chicken to find cardboard embedded in the crust of the chicken absolutely nasty and we will NOT be returning again between the cardboard,rude staff and cold food all around is sad we’ve ate here for over 20 years

We drove an hour to eat at Captain D’s in Hickory because it’s a place we only get to enjoy every once in a while. My husband even chose it for our Valentine’s Day dinner because he knows how much I love Captain D’s. I was really looking forward to it.
I ordered the Supreme Sampler (fish, shrimp, chicken, and two sides) with fries and mac & cheese. When we got our drive-thru order, it only had two pieces of fish, green beans, and coleslaw — completely wrong.
We went back inside and they remade it. Once we got back to the car, there was still no shrimp, and instead of fries, there was coleslaw again. I had to go back inside a second time just to ask for the shrimp. By that point, the experience was frustrating and disappointing.
While we were there, another customer’s order was also messed up, and she was offered a chocolate cake for the inconvenience. We weren’t offered any kind of apology gesture or courtesy, which made it feel even more disappointing.
For a $28 meal and a special Valentine’s outing, I expected better accuracy and service. Sadly, this visit really let us down.

Everytime I go they’re always nice. I usually order online when I do stop by but my food is always hot. Prices have gone up but to be fair Prices everywhere have increased. I don’t really have anything negative to say.

I’ve noticed that your food isn’t as good as it used to be…maybe you have changed your kitchen staff? Seems that your Asst.Manager is always outside smoking and then goes right back to the kitchen when he’s finished without washing his hands. I believe his name is Barry. Last week when I came in a new guy was working and completely left out some of my order which was my dinner. Go figure!! You used to have very friendly and professional help but over the past two yrs. all that has changed. Maybe you’re new too. Anyways when and if I decide that I want some more Captain D’s I will make an Xtra drive to the Lenoir location. I have eaten there lately with no problems. Unhappy Customer.

I have been in this store many times and I keep noticing the cameras that are there, so with that being said Im curious how or why nothing ever changes around there. Those cameras look like home cameras from someone’s house. Just think someone could be at home playing with them selves looking at you on their phone. If they are still up next week when I stop by to grab lunch I’m going to do some investigating myself. Health department, better business bureau or who ever I have to call because that’s not professional at all. My kids won’t be back until this is taken care of.

The food has always been delicious customer service could be a little faster but in their defense it was lunch time and that’s why I gave it atmosphere a three because it was a little messy but that’s because it was lunch time and they were very busy I love Captain D’s and I have loved them for years the fish and the coleslaw are one of the best go try it for yourself
