At our Lumberton, NC location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

Call me surprised. I grew up loving Captain D’s, but I feel it’s fallen on hard times in the last decade. I don’t see as many. They’re hard to find, and the one or two I’ve eaten in left something to be desired.
So imagine my surprise when we found this gem! I was in the mood for nostalgia, so I brought my wife and little kids here on a road trip.
We were the only ones in the restaurant. But the gentlemen working here did an exceptional job serving us. They were kind and prompt. The food was very good, and we could not believe the portions. We got one of the family meals for four, and we took home over half of it.
If it’s been a while since you had some Captain D’s, and you’re in the area. I would recommend this one.

The lady that took our order was such a darling! This was our first time visiting a Captain D’s and we were super satisfied. Everything was fresh, piping hot, and delicious! I prefer my fish with malt vinegar, and they had this readily accessible at the table.

The food was delicious. The sanitation score is a 97.5. The cashier was pleasant and friendly I even got a coleslaw to go it was so good! I do recommend giving them a try if you’re iin Lumberton NC.

The young man taking our order was a delight. The food was the best we’ve had from this chain. I’ve been all over the country and this was the best I’ve had since the ’90s. I will be back.

Stopped by on a Sunday (28 April 2024) after church. Even though it was during a lull in business, the food was EXCELLENT! I ordered the fish and shrimp platter, with extra shrimp.
I was delighted to receive golden, crispy, light, freshly fried food. No dried up and hard held in the UHC for too long product for me. Although it’s deep-fried, it wasn’t greasy. The hush puppies were perfect! Fluffy, crunchy, and with a hint of onion that lived up well to the reputation of this delightful southern comfort food.
The staff brought my tray to me, and there wasn’t a hint of complaints when I dropped the sauces, and they splattered everywhere…..floor, walls, and both benches. Thank you for smiling while helping me clean up!

I really enjoyed my Saturday meal here! The manager was very friendly and prompt even though she was working with just one other employee!
My food was fresh and tasty. There was no lack of customer service or food quality due to being understaffed. She even came to check on us. Round of applause to a wonderful dining experience and superb customer service from an exceptional female!

I arrived 9:20 and the door said 10pm closing.They closed down grease 40 mins before closing time which was 10pm . They said it would take 15 mins to heat back up. I wanted 3 fish and shrimp plates. But they only offered chicken fingers. I was SUPER DISAPPOINTED . I left and went to Kentucky fried chicken across the street but I really wanted fish and shrimp!!!

I am including photos from what I got. Very misrepresented size from what was advertised on website. This is so pathetic that I don’t know what to say. To me its obvious no one cares and only objective is to give people whatever!

I went 2 weeks I had worse experience it still
Doesn’t sit right with me the older lady in front was very rude , the cook in back was cussing and fussing whole time , you could hear him in lobby , food was thrown together she had to call owner for me a refund on my mobile order , && I’m not even that type person because I work fast food , I genuinely wanted to try food && thought it would’ve been great experience,

We truly enjoyed our experience at this Captain D’s. It was the closest store to 95 South. The fam was craving fish. Our food was hot and the fish sandwich is the size of a catchers mitt. I thank the cook and the manager. Thank you Lumberton Captain D’s❤️
