At our Fredericksburg, VA location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

I visited Captain D’s on Prince Anne St in Fredericksburg, Virginia for lunch, and it was a great experience. The fish was cooked perfectly — hot, crispy, and full of flavor. But the real surprise was the corn… absolutely amazing! Sweet, fresh, and the perfect side with the meal.
The food came out fast, the staff was friendly, and everything tasted fresh. Definitely a solid spot for a quick and satisfying seafood lunch. I’ll be coming back for sure!

I could not find a complaint to make about the food. The salmon was moist and flavorful. The shrimp were delicious. The hushpuppies are wonderful. But if the food was a 5/5 the staff blew it out of the water. They were nothing but a pleasure to meet.

I ordered the shrimp, fries and coleslaw. The shrimp was good. The coleslaw is awesome, it doesn’t have alot of mayonnaise. We also had the chef’s dish which included fish, crab cakes and shrimp. The hush puppies were okay, but a little dry.
I would definitely recommend a medium tea, the large tea is really big.

Not sure if it’s because it’s the start of the day, but the food was delicious! The best I’ve had at Capt D’s! The staff was friendly and while the restaurant is a bit worn down from its age, it is clean.

The food was surprisingly good. I’ve never been to one, but it exceeded my expectations. One thing I do admire is the staff. The staff here was 10/10. They deserve raises all around or appreciation because they went above and beyond. Not only did they provide excellent service..
