I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Captain Bob’s Fresh Seafood. As a new customer, I placed an order two weeks in advance for fresh smelts. When I placed the order, I was explicitly told that they sell fresh smelts and that they would debone them for me.
On the day of pickup, I received a last-minute phone call saying they did not have fresh smelts. I was never notified ahead of time, which would have allowed me to place an order elsewhere. When I questioned this, I was told there is “no guarantee you’ll get what you order.” That is a concerning statement for any business—especially one with “Fresh” in its name.
To make matters worse, when I asked if fresh smelts could be available the next day, I was later told by a manager that there is no such thing as fresh smelts and that they do not debone smelts at all. This directly contradicted what I was told when placing my order. I know firsthand that fresh smelts do exist and are available in Pennsylvania—I confirmed this with another local retailer that currently sells them.
Instead of taking responsibility for the misinformation, the manager attempted to blame “the kids” working there. That is not acceptable. Staff training and accurate product knowledge are the responsibility of management.
Between the conflicting information, lack of communication, and refusal to take accountability, I have zero confidence in this store. I canceled my order and will not be returning.

We have always enjoyed this place. We always get my father in law gift certificates here. To the nasty lady (owner/supervisor whatever you call yourself) who spoke to the kind woman behind the counter trying to help my husband who was not trying to get something free but seeing what the chances were to maybe get a lost gift certificate replaced (since they do take your name when you purchase them) even tho we were willing to buy a new one and did. OUR POINT (wink) to you is! You have a bad attitude and thats not good business.

Wow! Where has this place been my whole life A casual seafood spot with low prices (for seafood) in PA! You order at a counter and seat yourself, no wait staff. Large variety of fresh seafood, great sides and short wait time. Reminds me of places we eat at in Connecticut They also sell the seafood raw and prepared at the adjacent store. Can’t wait to return

First time here with a friend about a week ago who highly recommends this place. You order your food at the window and wait till your order gets called to pick up. Decor is nothing special and the presentation of food is nothing to write home about, but the food was delicious and reasonable. And the way restaurants are now expensive and very little food, I’ll take this place any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Awesome seafood at a great price. We got the Briiled Shrimp and Scallop Platter and Broiled Crab cake with fries. It was less than $27. No frills just great food.

The food was so delicious. Best clams I have ever had in the area. My grandson said the Cole slaw was the 2nd best he ever had, his other grandmothers being the best. Everyone was polite and helpful even though it was a very busy evening. Would highly recommend.
