We ordered the ribeye steak, the sea bass soup, and an excellent tuna appetizer, which was truly delicious. The mushroom appetizer was less impressive—the dish included too much dough-like filling, which affected the texture. The ribeye had good quality meat, but the flavor was fairly ordinary and didn’t stand out as a signature dish; the preparation and taste were similar to a well-made home-cooked steak. The sea bass soup, made with a lobster and tomato base, was interesting and unique. For dessert, the profiteroles with ice cream were excellent.
The service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive—servers were happy to answer questions and gave us space to enjoy the meal. If we return, we’d like to try their pasta dishes next time.
The Crispy Caesar was an unexpected fave for me, the crunchy bits were great and added to the experience.
The Rigatoni alla Vodka was great, super delicious with the slight dash of heat. I think it could do well if it was creamier but overall no major complaints.
The ribeye was very standard. I expected to be wowed by the combination of the ribeye with the truffle but I was completely whelmed. It wasn’t underwhelming or overwhelming, purely whelming.
The mashed potato was good but nothing to rave about, and the jumbo asparagus paired well with the ribeye.
Far From the Tree was quite sour, I preferred Spill the Tea.
The service is really great, but not stellar. The restaurant got quite busy at some points and I felt like I struggled to get some attention.
Capri went above and beyond with service and food. The manager PJ, Waiter Anthony and bartender Ricardo all went out of their way to make sure we had an excellent experience. The food was legitimately perfect- my boyfriend Tim had a ribeye steak while I had one of the specials, a seafood pasta. My dinner was full of perfectly cooked lobster and his ribeye was an elegant medium rare. We had the best time and were so thankful for a friendly, easy staff. This is one of my absolute favorite restaurants in Boston. They easily hit a 5 starts review even without their gorgeous patio (it’s mid Jan). We loved it.
Highlights were the rigatoni alla vodka, honey buns, meatballs, and the amaro shakeratos!
Food:
Honey Buns: 10/10 (sweet savory balanced)
Crunchy Caesar Salad: 10/10 (not too much anchovy)
Prosciutto & Burrata: 10/10 (one of the most fresh I’ve had)
2 additional season menu antipasti: (these were seasonal chef’s dishes not listed on the menu)
Rigatoni Alla Vodka: 10/10 (creamy perfection)
Agnolotti De Zucca: 10/10 (seasonal and spicy, great balance)
I seriously mean 10/10 with every dish.
Service: Vanessa was our server and she was so incredible! She was so nice, very personable, extremely knowledgeable on the menu, gave great dish recommendations, and was very fun to talk to! Her manager I believe Maria also visited the table to check in on us and that is always appreciated and shows genuine care for guests. Between each dish tables were wiped and overall the staff was very approachable and tentative!
Atmosphere: If you want to go somewhere with a great “vibe” this is it! You could tell this is a happening and popular spot amongst locals, (anything locals come out for is always good) no one is a better judge than those closest to your restaurant.
We have been to many many restaurants not only in Boston but along the east coast and this is one of our very favorites, we will be recommending this place to anyone we know visiting the city.
ALSO, cocktails are a must here! Very different and delicious!
