In town for a conference and was jonesing some comfort food and for me that’s Italian. A Yelp and Google search later I come upon Capperi. Good reviews, a few good pics- sold. Now let me preface this by saying I grew up in the city, if you ask what city just stop reading this review as it isn’t for you . Italian food is a staple where I come from. Meatballs and baked ziti (minus ricotta) are two of my all time favorite dishes butttt, I’m picky about it. A simple sounding dish that takes skill to execute well. Very quiet when I walked in so I was a tad hesitant. The owner popped out and greeted me warmly and gave me crate blanche seating. I ordered my beloved baked ziti, garlic bread and a side of meatballs and waited. The food came out, served by the owner and was presented beautifully. I tasted and yes, yes yes it was quite possibly the best baked ziti I’ve had outside of Joey D’s in Jackson Heights. The meatballs? Three well sized, dense balls in a rich marinara sauce. Just wonderful. Homemade garlic bread- perfect. Just overall wonderful spot ticked away with a charming owner and friendly service. I will be back.

This was seriously delicious! I ordered the chicken parm with angel hair pasta and it was 10/10. The red sauce was delicious and the angel hair pasta was cooked perfectly. The other dish is the chicken scarpariello and we picked linguine pasta – and it’s chicken, sausage, peppers and the most insanely delicious sauce – this dish was amazing and had so much flavor and a little kick!
I can’t wait to come back!

My wife and I discovered this gem of a restaurant by chance. The owner/chef/waiter Carlos was so nice and welcoming and clearly passionate about his food and delivering great service. I had the Eggplant Parmigiana Crepe and it was fantastic! The restaurant is charming and cozy. You can feel and taste the thoughtfulness Carlos puts into his food. We can’t wait to go back!

Stopped in for dinner with my Mom and two Aunts after a day of antique and thrift shopping. The experience started with Carlos, our server and part owner of the restaurant asking if we would like garlic or plain bread. We selected the garlic and it was amazing. They used fresh garlic. We got the calamari to start and it was delicious then we each ordered a dish and every tried a bite of each others food. The food was wonderful. We shared a slice of cheesecake and it was so good as well. Carlos was also a delight. He was very attentive and friendly. The aesthetic of the restaurant was cute, cozy and very clean. I would give it a 10 out of 10, highly recommend, go there.

Where do I even begin. Carlos swept me off my feet with his aura. Didn’t have enough chairs. He went TO THE PLACE NEXT DOOR to get more chairs. He is almost a one man show. Low staffed. Not a problem. Comes out with the food 6 or 7 massive big booms. He is SWEATING from the effort. Dedicated, motivated, disciplined aka Carlos. Food was so good. Throw money at Carlos for me. I’ll miss you goat. I’ll be back soon.

We came here based on the good reviews, and Capperi lived up to the reviews. The food was excellent and well-prepared, and the service was charming. We all had pasta (puttanesca, alla vodka, primavera) and all were pleased.

Our experience at Capperi was one of the most delightful and delicious dining experiences ever. We needed a late lunch so our options in that area were limited. There were only a few reviews for this restaurant but they were all good ones so we tried it. We were the only customers and Carlos, our chef/waiter/proprietor had a Spanish accent, so I was a little anxious. We ordered the bruschetta and Caesar salad for appetizers and both were very good. I ordered the putenesca and my husband, the spaghetti and meatballs! They both were most excellent. We fell in love with Carlos. He is such a hard worker. He is not yet licensed to serve wine but I believe you can bring your own. Also, there are options for parking other than on the street. Just call Carlos about that and to make a reservation for dinner. You won’t be sorry!

This was amazing food! We loved the appetizers and our meals. He was very friendly and took care of everything we asked for while we were there. I can’t believe how great everything was. He even gave us crepes for dessert and those tasted fantastic as well. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
