Capes Downtown Speakeasy Bar is hands down one of the coolest bars I’ve visited in the South Indianapolis area. It’s got a unique, gangster-style vibe that makes the whole experience feel like you’re stepping back in time. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is spot-on, and the decor really sets the mood.
The drinks were poured perfectly, and the quality of the cocktails was impressive. As for the food, it was even better than I expected. I ordered the Clyde sandwich, and it was absolutely delicious—packed with flavor and prepared just right. But what really stole the show for me were the pretzel bites with nacho cheese. They were some of the best I’ve ever had! Soft, warm, and paired with a creamy, flavorful cheese dip.
What’s also great about Capes is the value. For the quality of food and drinks, the prices are extremely reasonable. I left feeling like I had an amazing experience without breaking the bank. Overall, this place is a true hidden gem in South Indianapolis, and I can’t wait to go back and explore more of the menu. Highly recommend checking it out if you’re in the area!

This establishment has a great atmosphere, live music, and a convenient location. However, the place is too small and can get crowded quickly. It’s also important to note that no minors are allowed. Overall, it’s a good place for drinks and food.

3.5 ⭐ cool place if you just want to grab a drink. The food is just ok. Pretzel bites were fairly standard, pizza crust tasted par-baked and bland, steak sub was the best thing we ate. Again, not terrible but not great.

I started working in Indianapolis and had to get an apartment half way between Cincinnati and Indy so I ended up settling in shelbyville. I searched for good places to eat in the area and came in to Capones one night after work and was amazed. The atmosphere, the food, the hospitality from Brandi and Nisha. I ended up being a regular to the point the cook nicknamed me Cobb salad guy. This place is a total gem hidden away in shelbyville Indiana.

Food was good. Not sure if it was a manager who took our order, but we ordered an appetizer and our food at the same time. Food came out, but never got our appetizer. (Wasn’t on the bill either so never put in) The food was good.

What an awesome little establishment. I loved the atmosphere and even with the band playing, you could still talk to your friends. Our waitress and the owner were accommodating to finding us our football game on TV ♡
Will definitely go back!!

Quaint spot in Shelbyville. Great drinks & friendly service. The food was ok, but not special. There was live music the night we went & that was enjoyable. Will definitely be back for the atmosphere, service, & drinks.

Was passing thru Town for a few days and stopped in for a few beers on a Wednesday evening, turned out they had a Free Poker Tournament going on, so joined in and got to meet quite a few friendly locals who made me feel welcome. Seems like a nice local spot and would definitely return to hear some live music next time I’m in town.
