The restaurant itself was very clean with plenty of seating, which made for a comfortable dining atmosphere. I would definitely recommend Capone’s to anyone looking to enjoy a taste of Chicago right in their own backyard. One small note: there is no public restroom, so be sure to plan accordingly.
Today I got the “jumbo” Chicago hot dog along with cowboy bites. First time here. Nice clean restaurant and centrally located in downtown Muscatine. The hot dog was not only a not jumbo size, but it was smaller than a regular hotdog. It was very tasty though. The cowboy bites were a great addition. Those were very tasty and I got eight of them. Similar to like jalapeño poppers. For a hotdog dog and cowboy bites it came out to $18. Which I think is a bit overpriced for a small hotdog and some jalapeño bites. The restaurant was very clean and the gentleman working there was very nice and quick with service. Overall, I enjoyed my experience. Just a bit pricey for what you get.
January 2026:
Came back a year later and a few things changed on the menu. Still a bit pricey as a hotdog was about eight bucks.
I got a chili dog for nine dollars and a Chicago dog was about the same price. It was tasty, but the dogs and buns were a bit on the small side, considering the price.
There was a steady flow of people coming in and out or sitting down. So I knew it was a popular place amongst the locals. The only thing I wasn’t too impressed about was the guy behind the counter. He was not afraid of showing his gun and holster on his side! No need to be showing that off as it’s really a cquaint town and no need to be carrying a gun in a public place like this hotdog stand. After all, we’re not really in Chicago! Lol.
Overall, though the place was clean and they had decent variety on the menu if you love, hot dog type places. I always like trying different foods and hotdog and pizza, etc. when I’m traveling.
I’m met the owner and he thanked everyone for coming in when they were ready to leave including myself so I thought that was very very commendable!
Closest thing you’ll get to Chi style without driving there! Love the poppy seed buns & the Italian beef is SUPBERB!
…also, one of the only places OPEN ON MONDAYS on 2nd St
