From hunger to overfed, Capital House had the best meal I could ask for on this happiest of Father’s Days! I tried each of these dishes. My pork cuts were cooked to perfection and served super hot! This is how I like to eat my food. I also tried my daughter’s pizza…amazing. And my wife’s coconut shrimp- I’d order that one too!! Try the Pineapple Express…no it is not related to the movie…perfectly balanced with the dark rum and juices with a dash of nutmeg. Hands off my drink. It’s going down! Skillet chocolate chip with ice cream and mango sorbet con sugar cookie to cap it all off if you have a sweet tooth like me…I’m leaving here very, very satisfied. Also, our server was great. Attentive, and friendly but I think she wasn’t quite sure what to do with my families sense of humor! It’s not just dad jokes with us, it’s the entire family.

I rarely ever leave reviews, although my outstanding experience at Capitol Public House (CPH) in Eagle, CO, definitely deserves some feedback. I’ve dined at CPH a number of times. Growing up working and enjoying restaurants, I know the importance of a positive first impression that carries throughout the entire dining experience. Every time I come in, I am met with a personable, friendly, and knowledgeable employee, willing and able to suggest anything to tickle my fancy for an elevated dining experience. I can tell there is a lot of fun to be had amidst the people working because everyone is smiling and seemingly having a great time.
These are some of the themes I was excited to embrace as I took on planning one of my friend’s birthdays. Being a planner, I started talking with the manager, Morgan to ensure everything went smoothly. Morgan went above and beyond to assure I was aware of all of the logistics that went into coordinating the best birthday party at Capitol Public House. I definitely did not make things easy for her. Despite the back and forths that came from an indecisive group of people, Morgan was able to get us an estimate of what the minimum would be to host the party, she was able to ensure we would have the back room for a party of 30, on a Saturday, at 17:00 (crazy busy time for the restaurant); all the while delegating herself with gracious kindness and clear communication. This was so nice to be met with, especially considering how any other person (including myself) would have lost patience considering the circumstances of the situation.
Having seen and been a part of parties at this restaurant, I know that the night would have been a spectacular experience. Unfortunately, the other members of the party decided to take charge and make new plans. I was so sad that our work wasn’t rewarded that I felt I needed to share my experience of planning the party so others would have a feel for the ease and excitement I experienced while doing so. To Morgan and everyone at CPH, thank you for your outstanding and considerate service, always, especially in planning this party. Y’all rock socks!

We had our company Christmas party there last night. The food was excellent and plentiful. The service was constant and delightful. The atmosphere (private room in the back) was spacious and comfortable. I would highly recommend anyone have their group dinner here. Chef Kevin Nelson’s menu was a winner. Morgan, Nate, and Bridgette were great hosts. Thank you.
Blessings,

Stopped in for lunch; we had pizza and it was really good, thin crust like we like it. When we arrived there was no staff available so we sat ourselves. The room was too cold, almost to the point of needing a jacket. Service was weak- one of the two staff clearly did not want to be there and it showed. I would go back for the food, but service and temperature need to be addressed for me to go back more than once.

Stopped in for lunch, ordered French onion soup and the seared tuna. The soup was lukewarm warm, thick and has a sweet taste. The worst French onion soup I’ve ever tried and could only tolerate the cheese on top. The tuna was cold, smelled fishy and was clearly not fresh. The slaw had brown pieces of cabbage. I took one bite of the tuna and couldn’t even swallow it. I had to send it back. Needless to say, I left the restaurant hungry. The food is terrible and way overpriced. We won’t be back.

Friendly local spot. The service is terrific, they have a good beer line-up, although I just had a Coors Light. Happy hour has a lot of good food choices, it also seems to run late from the lunch hour, I think it ends at 5:00. If you’re looking something with a laid back local feel this is a great choice!

We ordered the Margherita pizza, hummus, mac & cheese, mozzarella sticks, Yukon potatoes, and tiramisu.
The pizza was not good, the sauce tasted commercial and the mozzarella was smashed all over unevenly. The Yukon potatoes also tasted weird and not fresh. The hummus and mozzarella sticks were just okay.
The mac & cheese and tiramisu were the highlights both were delicious!
Overall, a mixed experience a couple of great dishes, but most were disappointing.

Had lunch there today and was pretty disappointed. Server never asked if we wanted anything to drink, went to bar to get a refill of water and asked for aioli on side and it came on the sandwich. I told our server and she said sorry and that was it. Won’t be going back.

Another GREAT option when we’re down valley! The kiddo loved the fried chicken and pickles. The kids menu has some standard options, but we were most excited that there were some other options like teriyaki salmon with rice, fried chicken and pickles (housemade) and cheese tortellini, along with snacks like edamame and miso soup. The adults loved the Pub House salad that had the best raspberry vinagrette! The classic reuben was perfection! Our server was attentive to the needs of a kiddo and was on top of each detail throughout the meal. We can’t wait to return soon!

Capitol Public House is an average spot overall. The food was okay—nothing bad, but nothing that really stood out either. Same goes for the service: it was fine, not especially warm or attentive, but got the job done.
The atmosphere is nice enough for a casual meal or drink, but it didn’t leave a strong impression. It’s an okay option if you’re in the area, but not necessarily a place I’d go out of my way to visit again.
