Called the restaurant to ask what time the kitchen closed and the host politely stated 10pm. My fiancé and I arrived at 9pm and she was wearing leggings. We came 30 minutes away because we were craving Spanish food and the bouncer stated that there is a dress code and we couldn’t enter because it is the weekend. We told the bouncers we strictly wanted to eat. That’s when he contradicted himself stating “Oh you can come in but you would have to leave by 11pm and we don’t want to rush customers out.” I stated well then we can go in as we are just going to eat and will be gone before then. That’s when he enforced the dress code rule after stating that dress code is enforced after 11pm. Please have your host inform customers of your strict dress code in the future and have your bouncers not contradict themselves regarding policy.
Response to the business comment:
I don’t live in the area and I don’t follow your restaurant on social media. Your first assumption is that new customers would check your social media pages instead of looking on Google Maps which is what most adults do. There is no issue with your policy but if someone calls to ask what time your kitchen closes the person who answers the phone should let all customers (new and old) know that there is a dress code. Regarding what I was wearing, I work for a company that has a strict policy that does not allow me to wear sweatpants or ripped jeans, so that was incorrect. Making up false accusations of what was stated to do damage control doesn’t help your cause in this case either. Just take the feedback and educate your staff on how to address certain situations so you don’t lose potential/future clientele.

First time there with my wife. Tha place was semi empty at 1:30pm. Good vibes with a DJ. We were greeted and seated swiftly. Cool. Went during brunch hours and the brunch menu was not to our liking so we wanted to see the regular menu. No one came to our table since the time we were seated. No “Can I start you off with a drink” “I will be back to take your order”. After about 12 minutes of no contact we started to put on our coats to leave. The bartender came over and asked if every thing was ok? To our lying reply of yes. He apologized as we left. However I felt the apology was a little to late. If he noticed us leaving he should have noticed us not receiving service. However, We will go back as this was out first expreience. I would like to give establishment the benefit of the doubt.

Celebrating my son’s birthday today was absolutely fantastic. The service was superb, the food was on point Puerto Rican authencity at its finest. We had Tamarindo Mojitos super tasty, with alcapurria, Canoa de Maduro con Cerdo, Bistec Encebollado con Amarillos and Red snapper with Amarillos. Their fluffy Garlic bread was to die for sooooo good. Staff was super welcoming and very attentive. Angie our server was wonderful , made sure we were enjoying our food & drinks. Great music and satisfying ambiance! Se siente la escencia Boricua! Loved it!

Let me start by saying this: I have lived in both Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, and with both sides of my family being Puerto Rican, I know my Puerto Rican food. As a Nuyorican, I can confidently say that Capicu is one of the best Puerto Rican restaurants I have ever eaten from, period.
The flavors here are authentic and powerful, taking me right back to the island. Every dish I tried was seasoned to perfection and tasted like it was made with real care.
A huge highlight was the staff. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better and everyone was bilingual. The vibe inside is great, too—it has a cool, unique decor with a Puerto Rican Domino club feel that gives it a lot of character.
The parking and seating are perfectly fine, with no major issues. My only real downfall, and the reason I can’t give a perfect 5 stars for convenience, is the hours. I really wish they were open for breakfast and weren’t closed on Mondays! I have cravings that don’t always align with their schedule.
But if you’re in Middletown and looking for truly fantastic Caribbean American food, Capicu is absolutely the place to go. Highly recommended
