Love this place and the owner/staff are phenomenal! The drinks and food are always reliable for a fun breakfast or lunch, with really good seasonal options that are fun to try! I love how community-focused they are too. Keep an eye on their social media for pop ups! I got some amazing sweets a few months ago that I paired with my black iced coffee 🙂
I wouldn’t say it’s “traditional” in flavor but I don’t want it to be! They have fun with their menu and it shows in the welcoming atmosphere of the cafe.

Càphê Roasters has quickly become one of my favorite places for coffee and a meal in the city. The coffee is incredibly good and I’ve never been disappointed by a sandwich. Whether meeting up with friends or coming here for an afternoon of remote work, Càphê Roasters is an excellent choice.
Many would probably say it’s in a “sketchy” area but I’ve come here many times and have had a great experience.
Seating can fill up quickly so be warned!

Continuing my exploration of the best coffee shops in Philadelphia, the first one I stumbled upon was Caphe Roasters. To my surprise, it was conveniently located right around the corner from my house. Despite passing by numerous times, I had never really paid much attention to it until now. The neighborhood has been undergoing development, with old warehouses being transformed into modern living spaces, many of which now house retail shops. This particular shop used to be an old furniture factory, and upon stepping inside, I was impressed by the level of sophistication it exuded.
On a bustling Thursday around lunchtime, the shop was abuzz with activity. Seating was filled, and there was a line forming at the food counter. They had a well-organized system in place, complete with numbered orders and a diverse menu. Specializing in Vietnamese coffee and a range of drinks, they also offered a variety of food options, including a few vegan choices. It was necessary to inquire about allergens due to potential cross-contamination, but the staff were transparent and helpful in guiding customers.
I took the recommendation of the young lady at the counter and ordered an Ume Plum tea, along with a side of tamarind fries – a dish I had never tried before. The tea, sweetened with plum syrup, had a refreshing lemon-lime flavor and warmed me up on the chilly day. The fries, seasoned with tamarind, offered a unique combination of salty, sour, and sweet flavors. Perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, they made for a delightful snack.
As I observed the other patrons enjoying their meals and drinks, some working diligently while others simply relaxed with a cup of coffee, I too found myself immersed in the inviting atmosphere. I am already looking forward to my next visit to Caphe Roasters.

The OG bánh mì at Càphê Roasters is just really, really good. The baguette is a big reason why; it’s crunchy on the outside, soft inside, and somehow holds everything together without making a mess. The fillings are simple but done right: savory Vietnamese ham, pâté, pickled veggies, fresh herbs, and sauce that ties it all together.
Their Vietnamese coffee is smooth not too strong! It’s the kind of coffee that actually wakes you up and still tastes good to the last sip. The drip coffee is also solid, clean, bold cup you’d happily order again. I actually bought their fresh roasted coffee beans, will definitely enjoy it at home!
My kids enjoyed jasmine milk matcha latte. It’s lightly floral, not too sweet, and doesn’t taste artificial at all. Tastes very authentic and luxurious
Overall, Càphê Roasters feels like one of those places you stop into once and then somehow keep ending up back at. I would definitely come back when I visit Philly next time!

I love this place. Phenomenal Fried chicken Banh Mi. Probably my favorite Banh mi I’ve had. Awesome coffee and great and interesting variety of coffee and other items on the menu. I always try to stop here when traveling past here. If I lived near it I’d probably be broke lol. Great service, great atmosphere, and phenomenal coffee and food. I’d highly recommend going here. This might be my current favorite coffee place in the city (as of 2025-10-18).

Matcha was on the sweeter end and the lavender latte had a nice fragrance. Mainly came because it was the anniversary weekend and they did a chicken sandwich which tasted delicious. I wouldn’t be suprised if the other food was great as well. Great atmosphere plenty of seating space but of course fairly busy at the time I went. (10am-12pm)

This is a really cute cafe with good seating. The latte float was amazing. The Vietnamese latte was good, although not as sweet, but I asked them to add some soft serve to sweeten it up and they did, which was really nice of them. I also tried the J St. Sando and staple egg sando and both were really good. Highly recommend this place!

A hidden gem in the Kensington/Frankford area. Serving great coffees, matchas, sandwiches and food. The atmosphere is great. The staff are polite and quick. I’ve ordered online a few times, but was pleasantly surprised about the location. There is a lot of room to sit, work and catch up with friends.

Honestly maybe one of the best coffee shops I’ve ever been to. A bit out of the way but worth the trip. The matcha I ordered was so expertly crafted and delicious, flavorful and zero bitterness. I made my boyfriend get the egg latte because I wanted to try it but thought it would be too sweet to drink all myself – but it was the perfect balance of sweet while preserving a bold coffee flavor. Definitely could have drank the whole thing myself, not too sweet and one of the best lattes I’ve ever tried. And the staff is so genuinely kind and welcoming. Overall vibe is great, lots of people posted up having chats or working on laptops. Will make a point to be back here next time I’m in Philly.

The coffee, matcha and egg sandos are so delicious!!!!! My friend and I who are visiting from out of town had an amazing experience here. It’s one of those places where you can tell the cafe was made for the love of food. I would recommend this to anybody looking for amazing matcha or coffee!! If I lived in Philly, I’d come here at least once a week lol. A cultural culinary experience the sandwich made my friend cry from happiness LMAO.
