My husband chose the Canton for his birthday dinner. We celebrated with my daughter and her three sons, the youngest had a burger and fries which looked great and he enjoyed. The rest of us had different picks of combinations. It was all great. The deep fried prawns were especially good. The egg rolls are gigantic. Six of us ate for a hundred bucks including a healthy tip.

Oh. My. Goodness. The egg rolls. They are gigantic and they are delicious . Two egg rolls cost around $8 and they are worth every cent. Each bite makes you feel like you’ve done something really good in life to deserve these egg rolls.

The sweet and sour pork and plain rice were about the only two items that were decent. The shrimp chop suey was like a bucket of soupy, slimy, over cooked onions, celery and bean sprouts with a handful of super tiny, canned shrimp thrown on top. Very disappointing(photos attached to this review)! It looked like slimy maggot casserole. No one in my house would touch that dish. The soft chow main noodles tasted of metal and salt. The beef dish had mostly mushrooms and onions with very little beef. Being a local, I like to support family establishments, but I will never return to this place and cannot recommend it.

We haven’t been to the restaurant in about 10 years, decided to try it out, drove 45 minutes just to get Chinese food. What a disappointment. The D dinner, three people add an order of “fried “ rice, 60 bucks worth of the worst food ever. Chow mien was a mushy glop of onions, celery, and a few bean sprouts. The rice wasn’t fried, no egg no vegetables, tasted like day old white rice with soy sauce and a few pieces of pork thrown on top. Shrimp was ok, egg roll had big chunks of almost raw vegetables. The sweet and sour ribs were eatable, but only because everything else was bad. We did not get our steamed rice with our order. We haven’t opened our fortunes yet, but we know that we won’t be returning. We will have to search for good Chinese food in Olympia.

This place used to be good. No longer. They overcharged drastically. They were out of something so we said we would have something else. They charged us for both meals. And didn’t give us the rice. They now charge for tea also (which is understandable given the rising prices)

I have been visiting this restaurant for most of my life. It was an absolute pleasure, visiting tonight, after a decade away. The Hang Yen Guy (Almond Fried Chicken) is EXACTLY as I remember it, as a child. Some things stay the same, and when it comes to food, that is a blessing. My Sister loves out of town, but still gets take out every time she comes back. I can see why.
