We got carry out but the service was great, she was very sweet and food was ready quickly. The food, AMAZING! My new husband and I were were on our mini honeymoon so we had to get carry out to stay with our dogs at the hotel BUT they do allow puppers outside. The queso was amazing and the chicken tacos and chicken quesadillas were worth dancing to! You have to stop here when you’re in Charlevoix. It’s so neat and tucked in off the street. My husband realized that by he married me, I have great taste!

We tried Cantina Tacos and Tequila and had a mixed experience. The atmosphere, service, and drinks were excellent — a really fun place to hang out. We ordered steak tacos, the taco salad, chips with salsa, and corn dip. The taco salad was definitely the standout, but overall the food was a bit on the bland side. Thankfully, the five hot sauce options at the table helped add some kick. Worth stopping in for the vibe and cocktails, but the food could use a little more flavor.

2024 review: Disappointing. We really enjoyed our last visit 5 years ago and we’re looking forward to a repeat experience. The restaurant is the same, but the menus is very limited and prices are much more, especially the margaritas which cost $12 for what appears to be an 8-10 oz drink. Say good by to the pitchers offered yesteryear. Food did not stand out in a crowded Mexican restaurant field. We were charged $2 for a cap of lime cream offered as a substitute for sour cream….Salt in an open wound. Service was good and appologetic.

Original 2019 review: originally a 5-star rating. Fun place with good Mexican food and pitchers of margaritas. Great burritos, tacos (many to choose from) and freshly cooked chips and several varieties of salsa/dip. Service and atmosphere are tropical especially if you pick a day with live music.

Went to Cantina Tacos and have to give props to the manager—he was hustling the whole time, cleaning, bussing tables, and keeping things moving. You could tell he cared about the place. Unfortunately, the food was a letdown. It wasn’t Mexican food, it was more like something you’d get at Chipotle or Qdoba—totally Americanized and just not good. Disappointing if you’re going in expecting real, flavorful Mexican dishes. Great effort from the staff, but the food needs a major rethink.

I absolutely love this town. Visit every year. This was my first visit to The Cantina. I always travel with my dog, and this cute restaurant has beautiful outdoor seating that allows our furry friends. The food is absolutely delicious. The server, Frank The Great, was so top-notch. Hands down a great time. A+ for me at The Cantina!

The food was delicious and came out fairly quickly! The service was not so great and we found our particular waitress seemed annoyed to serve us. Other servers there seemed knowledgeable and friendly so I’m sure it was a fluke or the waitress might have been having a bad day. The atmosphere was awesome and felt like a true cantina.

The food was good and the service was fast. This was the first meal we got in town that felt it was worth close to what we paid for it. Chips and salsa came in nice sized portions. Cocktails were expensive but not out of line with the rest of the places in town.

The tacos are a la carte 5.00 the food was good, you can order other meals with bigger portions, chips and Caso dip, Philly cheese steak burrito with rice (meat was very tender, and wasn’t skimpy) I couldn’t finish was so much, had left overs the next day, fish tacos were good with chips and dip you get plenty. They have a mini bar area nice sitting area outside and dinning room area in the back. Service was friendly and attentive. It is tucked away off the main road. Worth a visit!

My group had a terrible experience with one of the servers (Hailey F.). Two of my colleagues ordered the ‘taco combo’ with the same protein, but wanted different shells for each. And when Hailey presented the check, she had itemized each taco and consequently the beans and rice, resulting in their bill being $10 more than what it should’ve been. We asked her to correct this and she said she couldn’t, but then followed up with “maybe you shouldn’t go out to eat if you can’t afford it”. Our jaws just about hit the floor. I approached her away from the table and she said she told us it would be more (she didn’t) and when I asked for a manager, she said ‘no one was there’ (but eventually she got the bartender (maybe ‘Nancy’??)) to correct the bill charge.

Hailey was extremely rude and frankly I was the only one who tipped her because I’ve been a server. However, days later this incident has stayed with me and I feel compelled to notify the owners of her behavior.

Overall, we were sat quickly (which was great). The food was adequate and the atmosphere was kinda low-key neat, but her rude service was completely unjustified.
