Overall AMAZING place to go to. Izzi was our server and she was the best!! She let us know we came in time for happy hour so the drinks were half priced, and very delicious by the way. Service was amazing and super quick, as soon as we sat down chips and salsa were brought out, very delicious as well. Everything is fresh and tastes authentic. I got the pick 2, a steak burrito, and chicken tostada, both super duper amazing. Honestly loved this place!!!! We’re not locals in St. Augustine and are just visiting but we were driving down and passed the place and decided to stop by for some good eats and I am thoroughly impressed. 10/10 would recommend:) Thank you again Izzi!

We came back after having visited about 2 years ago and we were just as impressed this time as we were last time!

We came on a Tuesday (by happenstance) and we were looking for tacos! The $2.99 tacos definitely were delicious.

We mixed and matched some tacos. I got 2 Pineapple Al Pastor tacos and 1 Asada street taco. My wife got the blackened shrimp, Al pastor and the asada taco.

We also got kid meals – a quesadilla (that has the traditional white mozzarella feel too it), 2 of the soft taco – beef.

Everyone was happen with their meals.

The salsa has a bit of a kick, which I very much appreciate.

The restaurant was very clean and tables were cleaned promptly after people left.

The restaurant tends to run at a louder decible but it adds to the overall atmosphere.

Ariana was our waitress – Service was fantastic, helpful, friendly and prompt. Answered our questions and offered suggestions.

Great place for all ages. Great food at fair pricing. Love their drinks too! We never really have to wait for a table despite it typically being busy. Service is very good as well! We will continue to support this business!

We came to St. Augustine to escape Midwest winter and see the Night of Lights. What I actually came to do was make sure my girlfriend stayed warm, fed, and smiling — which, for the record, is easily accomplished with the beach, Mexican food and good margs.

Downtown was chaos, so I searched for a local spot with parking and ended up at Cantina Louie. The place is simple, well -decorated and clean, and I’m convinced it used to be an old red-roof Pizza Hut — which somehow made it even better.

We ordered La Parrilla, an appetizer sampler, and two big 1850 margaritas (one strawberry). The salsa was the standout, the plates were loaded, and the total bill stayed shockingly reasonable.

She was happy. I was relieved. Five stars from both of us.

Great service. Server was nice and attentive. Ever family member enjoyed their food. First time at restaurant. Tacos were different than what I am used to but tastes great. Nice easy place to eat with the kids.

Fyi: to exit one of the bathrooms you have to twist handle up instead of down. We saw a guys get stuck and the hostess had to let him out 🙂 .

Cold Midwest refugees, meet your Mexican savior (with a side of nostalgia).

We were visiting from — or more accurately, escaping — the frozen Midwest to soak up the magic of St. Augustine’s Night of Lights. Magical? Yes. Crowded? Also yes. Parking? A full-contact sport.

So we did what any rational, slightly hangry tourists would do: asked ChatGPT for a local favorite with parking that wouldn’t make us cry. Enter Cantina Louie — and honestly, bless this place.

First impressions: the atmosphere is a little kitschy, cute, and refreshingly simple. Nothing pretentious, nothing trying too hard. In fact, we were about 90% sure it used to be an old Pizza Hut — you know, the Pizza Hut — with the iconic red roof. And honestly? That just unlocked a wave of childhood nostalgia. Somewhere between ordering breadsticks in the ’90s and now ordering margaritas as adults, it all came full circle.

Now, the food. We ordered La Parrilla, which arrived like it had something to prove. Fajita chicken, pulled pork, steak carne asada, and Mexican street corn all piled together in a sizzling, aromatic flex. Every bite made us pause, look at each other, and ask, “Wait… is THIS the best one?” Spoiler: we never decided.

As if that wasn’t enough, we added the appetizer sampler, because self-control was not on the itinerary. Two enchiladas, mini taquitos, pineapple pork al pastor, avocado salsa, and guacamole…and homemade tortillas — basically a greatest-hits album of Mexican comfort food. And the salsa? Unreal. We debated drinking it. With a straw. No shame.

Let’s talk value. All that food came in under $40. Under. Forty. Dollars. In a tourist town. During peak season. Somewhere, an accountant wept tears of joy.

To hydrate (for science), we ordered two 1850 margaritas — one classic, one strawberry. Both were generously sized, dangerously smooth, and absolutely doing the Lord’s work. One sip in and we forgot all about traffic, crowds, and the cold Midwest we left behind.

Final verdict:
Cantina Louie didn’t just save us from parking chaos — it fed us, watered us, and gave us a warm hug of Pizza Hut nostalgia. If you’re in St. Augustine during Night of Lights and don’t want to wrestle a parking meter for tacos, this is the move. ✨

We came for the lights.
We stayed for the salsa.

The food was good but nothing special in my opinion. It came out really fast, which was a plus. The decor of the restaurant is nice and service was good.

Haven’t been to canteen Louis in quite a while. The food was OK. Service was really good, but they definitely need to clean the windowsills. Plenty of parking. Good chips and salsa.

Cantina Louie is one of those hidden gems that one loves to gave here in Florida.
The picture I posted is what I order
Chicken, beef, pork. That dish was under $20.

Wow- honestly I ordered becuase of their promo on DoorDash, buy one get one free- and it did not disappoint!! It was absolutely amazing and worth the value. We got 6x Chimi Chimi Bang Bang Taco and 2 Kids Grilled Chicken. The Kids Grilled Chicken is extremely large and the portion is perfect for them. The 3 Chimi Chimi Bang Bang Taco were huge! The taste was phenomenal, everything was fresh, portions large, would order every day if this promo was continued- or not!! It’s that good. A great way to attract customer and keep them ! Thank you
