It’s a kind of post-modern space yet very warm and comfortable. We started with nachos with pico de gallo (a generous portion) and decided to order the same entree — quesadillas with pork pastor. We had just about as much as we could finish. They were delicious, stuffed with pork and tasty succulent cheeses. They were hearty but not heavy. After some decision we opted for the pastel de tres leches — luscious cake soaked in milks.
All of this was made even better by our wonderful servers (I wish I could cite their names) who happily attended us with patience while we lingered a long time — they said “no worries, you haven’t seen each other in a few years.”
Everything about Cantina Frida was terrific, I’ll be back again, and on the next visit I want to try the beautiful bar.
Our waitress suggested the Mole Poblano for me over the Negro and I was more than pleased. The chicken was a bit overcooked but the Mole sauce was aromatic and full of flavor. I would recommend.
Atmosphere was excellent and the location was a bonus as it was next to a parking garage with free parking.
Very complete tequila and mezcal bar. Very good enchiladas. Recommend the enchilada trio.
If I could give more than five stars, I would. Cantina Frida is more than just a restaurant—it’s an experience, a sanctuary of warmth and flavor tucked into the heart of Beverly Hills. From the moment you walk through the doors, you are embraced not just by the vibrant ambiance and inviting aromas, but by the people—every single person who works here treats you like family.
There’s something inexpressibly beautiful about the service here. It’s not forced or scripted—it’s genuine, loving, and full of soul. The kind of hospitality you rarely find anymore. Whether it’s your first time or your fiftieth, they remember you, they welcome you, and they care for you as if you belong to them.
And then there’s the food—exquisitely delicious doesn’t even begin to describe it. Every dish is a celebration of Mexican heritage, refined with elegance and heart. Each bite carries the love and passion of the kitchen staff, and you can feel it. The flavors are bold yet balanced, creative yet comforting. It’s a feast not only for the palate but for the spirit.
Cantina Frida is my favorite restaurant in all of Beverly Hills—not just because of the food, but because of the people, the atmosphere, and the sincere joy I feel every time I’m there. The owner, a dear friend, has created something truly special here—something that cannot be manufactured or imitated.
To anyone reading this: come not just to eat, but to feel what it’s like to be welcomed, cherished, and nourished in every sense of the word. Cantina Frida is a treasure, and I am forever grateful it exists.
We requested hot sauce, which came with an additional charge of $3, but it was absolutely worth it—super delicious and super hot as its supposed to be!
We also ordered the vegetarian fajitas, which weren’t on the menu, but they accommodated our customization. The vegetables were cooked to perfection.
Finally, we had the Tres Leches for dessert, and it was fantastic!
