EDIT: ordered a 2nd time but got cheesecakes to-go. It was so sloppy and they left the seeds in the kumquats and were cheap and stingy with the kumquats and honeycomb. And just threw on some flowers. Notice the in- restaurant portion vs the to-go… so they just care about their image and presentation in the restaurant but don’t really take pride in all their food… so fake

Got scallops (so good and different!), oysters, roast duck and potatoes. And basque cheesecake with kumquat n lemon, honeycomb for dessert (BEST cheesecake i ever had). The atmosphere is not cozy. They have these tiny tables in the middle. It’s just this large room. You feel so exposed. Also the food is nice looking and “fancy” but it’s not the satisfying type of food just fyi.

We were up in the foot hills at Banger Greedley’s compound setting up a Modified Hawkins 50 to a spring loading shoot, all this attached to a Winkler Bradley AI tracking camera with all the bells and whistles, so Banger can finally get rid of those pesky bears that have been taking his livelihood. In all that to-do all I could think about was stopping at the Canon Restaurant back in Sactown for some of that amazing chicken, and my little squeeze, for some reason had her heart set on one of those dinner salads. Everything about Canon was ..To put it mildly ..Spectacular!
5 ☆☆☆☆☆ and worthy of a cross-town trek!

We pivoted last minute and Canon had availability. I’d say this is a Michelin star recommended status restaurant. The tapas are delicious and the main dishes are CRAZY good. One of the best steaks I’ve ever had. One of the better spots I’ve been to in Sacramento.

The food, service and ambiance were above and beyond excellent! Such a great place for a birthday celebration! Highly recommend reservations as this place gets pretty busy as the night goes on. Better to order family style so that you can try several dishes, they are smaller in portion. We ordered several plates to share and each one better then the next. We had oysters, champagne, tater tots with Mole sauce, and so much more. Try all the drinks as you can’t go wrong with any of them. The staff is so incredibly kind and attentive! Thank you for an amazing birthday dinner!

This was our third time to Canon and it never disappoints. Their cocktails are great and their wine list is interesting though we brought our own this time. Our family of four always orders 7-10 items create our own tasting menu. The items that stood out the most this time were the Hamachi, corn salad, and pole beans. They were sold out of the filet so we got the pork instead which was delicious. And highly recommend the crunch roll to dip in all the sauces but the butter it comes with is incredible also. The cooking is creative, the presentation is aesthetic, the service is attentive but not overly so, and the desserts are always great. Highly recommend Canon!

Love this place! The cocktail list and bottles behind the bar caught my eye first. Very fun bar with lots of great options. I had the Peach Pit and Sassenach cocktails. Both were great. The hit for the whole table though was the Valley Girl… very fun and unique. Every course of the meal was amazingly presented and delicious. Highly recommend the tater tots and hamachi crudo. Would love to come back many times!

Great service. Atmosphere is lively. It was completely packed by the time we left at 8pm. Reservation is recommended. Even the bar seats were filled – so it may be hard for a walk-in. The portion size was in the smaller end. We ordered about 2 appetizers, 2 smaller, 2 veggies and 2 platters. The whole chicken did the job of filling us up – could have had more spices. It was a little bland. However, the other smaller dishes were great.

The best part about the atmosphere 1 it is unassuming 2 It is surprisingly nice given the view from the street. The food was great! Easily the best kabob I have ever tasted. Service was top notch. Providing just enough info for a quick decision. Be invisible when a good conversation is happening, and just taking care of things without drawing attention to themselves. Drinks refilled without ever being empty. Easily earned a bigger tip. I would go back.

A six-time Michelin bib-gourmand recipient, Canon sees Chef Brad Cecchi playing with a lot of spices and local produce to create big flavors across a collection of small plates.

Located in East Sacramento between residential roads, the indoor-outdoor space secluded from any semblance of a capitol city, guests are greeted warmly at the hostess podium before being led to tables, bar or booths offering a full view of the kitchen.

Dimly lit amidst dark woods, the sort of setting that creates a seductive glow while smoke from a wood fire lightly perfumes the room, service is friendly yet informed while making recommendations pertaining to both portions and preparation plus new items and those set to disappear soon.

Priced less than some chains, seven dishes and a mocktail just $140 with tax and tip, unnamed Mocktails are smartly crafted and pair well to spiced Pig Skins or signature Tots stacked atop piquant dirty Mole with Pumpkin Seeds and Cotija.

A “neighborhood” concept that works in all the right ways, Dutch Crunch Rolls highly encouraged for sharing, Cecchi displays a deft hand with Produce ranging from bitter Broccoli to to charred Plums cutting Pork Belly’s Fat, and for fans of spice the Urfa Chili Drumsticks offer big bang for the buck.

Globally inspired and accommodating for allergies, vegans or celiac diners, Dessert tempts across Panna Cotta or Sopapillas, though passing on Canon’s Pavlova currently featuring Peaches with “Sweet Tea” flavors and a floral hint would be a mistake.
