Update: We tried new items. This week we had a burger which was fresh and delicious! We got steak quesadillas, chicken gyro, deboned chicken and red potatoes. We loved everything. The only thing that was not my favorite was the potatoes. They were ok but just needed to be cooked a tad bit longer. Either still one of our favorite restaurants. We go there At least once a week.
My family loves Canastas! Everything is delicious! Chicken, shrimp, steak, gyros, salads. Fresh, well seasoned and fast service. Staff was friendly and you get large portions. We highly recommend and will be back!

The best open flame inside grill I’ve had coming from a restaurant. I got the cilantro chicken mixed vegetables and white rice my first time on a Thursday. And the second time on a Sunday I got double meat of the cilantro chicken with the green rice and potatoes. The chicken was juicy and not dry, I kept my extra chicken and rice I got and warm it up Monday, taste just like I just placed my order the chicken was still tender and juicy after I warmed it up. It’s 1 hour and 35 minutes from Fayetteville, I will make that drive anytime for that chicken. Staff was nice and you can see them making your food.

First time here. This place is great, especially the lunch special. For the price, you really can’t beat it. Totally worth every penny and so delicious. I’ll definitely be back for more soon. Highly recommend checking it out!

We love dining in and taking out at Durham Canastas chicken. The food tastes (and looks) awesome, nice selection, especially those sides, all sold at very reasonable price. The employees are very friendly who makes everyone happy. At times the charcoal chicken tastes a bit more saltier than it supposed to I guess they can definitely improve it and let the customer add extra as desired.

I’ve gone to this place a few and the food is awesome. Well let me just say I had the lamb chops. They are a little expensive but well worth it. I also got the green rice….I don’t remember the name and I’ve gotten green beans andor a salad. The food is great you all have to try it. You will also go back for more and spread the word. They have two locations that I know of one is in Durham and a new one that just opened up in Wake Forest!

My wife and I don’t eat much, so we shared a quarter dark chicken meal with two sides: green beans and red potatoes ($14). The portion may typically good for one person.
We also ordered a seafood soup, which came with rice ($24).
The green beans were excellent — flavorful, tender but not mushy. Good enough to satisfy a food-loving Chinese customer!
The chicken was also excellent — the skin was slightly crisp, the meat tender but not dry, and the flavor rich without being heavy.
The red potatoes were just okay — not bad, but nothing special.
The seafood soup was very good: slightly spicy, with plenty of real seafood. Nothing to criticize there. And the white rice was excellent!
It seems that, in addition to affordable meals like chicken, the restaurant also serves higher-end specialty dishes, such as chewers and seafood soup. There’s definitely more for us to explore next time.

We stopped in for the 1st time today since we were running errands in the area. We were not disappointed. Chicken was grilled perfectly and definitely had meat on the bones. Rice and beans were tasty and I loved the fried yuca – which was generous. Actually the whole plate had generous portions.
I liked that we could order via a kiosk and then they brought it to the table.
i don’t think they have fountain drinks – we got canned sodas. Definitely would eat here again.
