Absolutely phenomenal food and service!
We had a reservation for our Anniversary, and we were greeted with complementary champagne and seated immediately.
We shared all plates and started with happy hour oysters (not pictured), and the tamarind sauce was delicious! We followed with the Chicken Liver Mousse, Wagyu Steak Tartare, Duck Spam Musubi, Foie Gras Dumplings, and finished with the Duck Stack with added seared Foie Gras. The food was all 10/10. Each dish was a revelation. The service was super fun sitting at the counter and watching the chefs cook. The patrons were casual to fancy and it was such a wildly organic vibe. We definitely will be back when we are in Portland. The perfect last restaurant during our coastal anniversary adventure!

It has been awhile since I have been to Canard and after tonight I wondered why. Love the small plates and snacks. Everything was amazing and completely shareable. Such an great intimate space. The service was impeccable. I definitely won’t be waiting so long to come back!

This place was on my “to do” list for a while. The atmosphere was low key, casual with moderate amounts of noise. The staff was friendly. French cuisine never disappoints. We enjoyed every dish with the exception of the roasted broccoli – a bit too salty and the texture was off. However, the trout was exceptional. I would go back just for that dish. Overall, pleased with the experience.

Highlights were the eggs and the oysters. The steam burger is really talked about but I thought it was whatever. The foie gras dumplings had not enough filling in my opinion and! feel like I just tasted a lot of dumpling skin. The duck frites was okay. I came here using my chase sapphire reserve benefits and I’m glad I got to try it but not sure if | Will return. I enjoyed sitting at the bar and got to see the chefs working in the kitchen.

We sampled a wide range of dishes and, overall, this is a solid spot for French cuisine. Service was quick and friendly. That said, it was a special occasion, and the experience didn’t feel acknowledged in any meaningful way. Next time I’d probably skip mentioning it to avoid the awkwardness. I spent almost $300 (with tips) to surprise my wife (and she enjoyed the evening), but I hoped for a touch more celebration.
On the food: several plates felt over-sauced. We ordered multiple dishes featuring foie gras, yet the sauces overshadowed it, making it hard to appreciate the main ingredient itself instead of underlining it. Perhaps that’s the chef’s intent, but when foie gras is the star, we’d love its flavor to shine more clearly.
The atmosphere was lively – quite crowded —and the tight spacing made conversation less comfortable.
In hindsight, this may not have been the ideal choice for a special occasion. For the price, I think we could find an experience better aligned with what we wanted. Likely our last visit, though we appreciate the effort and the otherwise attentive service.

Visiting my friends in Portland for the weekend and they chose this dinner spot knowing I’d love it (and they were right). The service was great and dinner was absolutely delicious. We ordered a variety of dishes to share: crispy broccoli, duck frites, crispy chicken cutlet, steam burger, foie gras dumplings & oeufs en mayonnaise.
Standouts: foie gras dumplings & oeufs en mayonnaise. Honorable: steam burger and duck frites
I’d definitely come back each time I’m back in PDX!

We had dinner here at 7:40pm yesterday. It seemed busy for a Wednesday night. Took a few mins to be seated. One thing I noticed right away was that this restaurant was quite noisy. Because they had creative dishes, we decided to order several and share. They all tasted good except the trout meuniere. My partner enjoyed the drinks. Their menu was small. If you’re a picky eater, you wouldn’t have many choices. Our server with long blond hair was attentive. What bothered me was a hostess/female server with medium hair was talking bad about customers with her coworker who had a tatto on his right arm. Not professional at all. I don’t want to pay a 3% staff wellness fee when they talk bad about customers. We will not go back.

We had high expectations and was disappointed since It’s not easy to reserve a suitable time on weekends + we had great experience at Le Pigeon.
The worst dish is the Rabbit and Eel Terrine. They designed it to be presented as an Asian fusion with nori and avocado salad(very green crab roe+Japanese pickle ginger+Jalapeño) with a lemon flavored cream(mayo?) with furikake. When I make them together my mouth is covered with the cheap taste of the furikake cream(or mayonnaise?) and pickled ginger. I can’t even feel the presence of the terrine at all, which is the name of the dish.
The most recommend-able dish is the foie gras dumplings. It’s like a Xiaolongbao soup dumpling that the foie gras will explode from the dumpling in your mouth. The tom yum soup is kind of unnecessary, kimchi or vinegar might be more appropriate from my own perspective.

Overhyped. The food is average at best and overpriced. The so-called ‘duck stack’ is nothing more than an egg over pancakes with a bit of oily ground duck. Foie Gras appetizer is tiny grilled liver over toast. Plenty of better dining options exist elsewhere.

My husband and I ate here last night and had an amazing experience! Loved that seating is minimal, which allowed for an intimate eating experience. Our waitress was very attentive and super friendly. We especially loved sitting at the chef’s counter and watching our food created. Great chef team too! They worked without stress and each meal felt like it had love in it. We are looking forward to trying Le Pigeon next time! 10/10 experience
