We had our Thanksgiving buffet here, and all the dishes were satisfactory, including the desserts. I would have appreciated a selection of fruit options and a fresh salad bar.

The cafe is like an upscaled diner including standard fare with specialty dishes. We had a surprise today as we did not know there is a weekend buffet. Normally I am not a buffet person, but when the prime rib entree is $35 and prime rib is on the $25, all-you-can-eat buffet, you do the buffet.
The buffet itself doesn’t look like much. In fact we didn’t even notice it until our server recommended it. But when you hear about and then see what all they have, it’s wonderful. Then you get to taste it all and it’s amazing.
I way overdid it because it I couldn’t decide between breakfast or lunch. I am now on the couch waiting for the food coma to win. They have prime rib, roast turkey, baked ham, shrimp cocktail, an omlet station, several kinds of juice, pancakes, waffles, sausage, bacon, corned beef hash, eggs, pastries, housemade desserts, fresh fruit. Oh my! It all looked so delicious. They do have a chaffing dish with pancakes and waffles, but will make them fresh if requested.
They do not take reservations, but have a list and you get a blinking and vibrating thing when your table is ready. We only waited 20 minutes at 11am on a Saturday. Not bad at all.
The reason for the 4 stars is the server seemed confused most times he came to the table and took halfway through our meal to bring the one bloody mary that was ordered. I don’t know if he was overwhelmed, but he should be writing things down if it’s a memory issue. He was polite and attentive, but something was definitely off.
Overall we enjoyed the cafe very much.

Had a wonderful breakfast this morning. Omelette was made to order and perfect. Excellent hash browns. Nice and crispy on the outside. The young lady serving the table was awesome. Great smile and personality. The only down fault was her Dallas Cowboys jersey. J/k Go Pack Go. We will definitely be back.

The 5 ⭐️s was due to our experience with Miss Penny, she made our omelets, not only was that one of the best omelets we’ve ever had, her customer service, smile and overall being was top notch! She made our experience at Canal St Cafe one to remember.
We were told it would be a 15min wait while the tables were cleaned. We were told to sit and would be called, after 3 different people walked up and were seated we were finally seated.
The rest of the food was ok. We may be back if Miss Penny is cooking.

Always courteous staff, modern atmosphere. Steak was cooked the way I requested, and prices are reasonable, especially when you get comps from the casino which made my meal free. This restaurant is also a kid friendly friendly part of the casino.

Great food at a reasonable price. Scenery and ambiance is also definitely mentionable. I usually go for the steak here, however today I tried the pot roast and I know I’ve found my new favorite menu item!!!!

This was my first time dining here and I must say I was thoroughly surprised with the food and service as some of the other reviews were not so great. When we first arrived we were promptly greet by the hostess stand and taken back to our seats within a few minutes. Given that it was mothers day, the buffer area was crowded, however we moved through the line quickly. Between my daughter and I we tried just about everything except the cinnamon rolls. I don’t have a bad thing to say about the food or the service.
Don’t get started on the desserts which were absolutely amazing, from the taste to presentation.
