This was the best Italian food I’ve eaten in Dallas. It he pizza was delicious with a perfect crispness in the crust! The lasagna was also phenomenal. We finished off with Tiramisu and it was perfect! The atmosphere was jazzy and dim-lit with so much history in the air. We made the best choice for Friday night dinner! Go to Campisi’s!

I’ve been going to Campisi’s for 50 plus years now. We were quite surprised that the pizza is no where near what it use to be. The sauce is too tangy and it overpowers the pizza big time! The crust is almost too thin, and I love thin crust pizza. Things have definitely changed though. I use to sell shoes to Mrs. Campisi decades ago. I once told her, I’m trying to copy their sauce for their lasagna, and I’ve almost got it. She replied, “well honey, why don’t you just ask?”….. I loved her to pieces! As I also loved Joe Campisi, as he once made me a whole plate of Campisi’s meatballs. It was my birthday. I was at the bar all by myself and he brought them to me. Such a great memory! I hadn’t been there in a couple of years, maybe longer….. But my whole family loved Campisi’s! We were so surprised that their pizza tasted so different now. Such a bummer……

Place has really fallen off, idk if they got a change in ownership or a new cook. But the pasta tastes off, and the Alfredo is worse than the buttered noodles and parm my little sister made for me at the age of 8. I wouldn’t feed these leftovers to my dog if I had one. Also my waitress didn’t offer to top my coffee off till I was standing to leave. Every time I came to Dallas as a kid to visit my family I would beg to come to The Great Campisis, and it breaks my heart to say those days are long gone.

We had a business dinner here as my colleague had been here before mentioning it was a legendary place.
I was extremely disappointed with my pasta plater with meatballs, lasagna and ravioli. The sauce tasted as if no condiments were added at all. Lasagna was extremely chewy.
Adding tons of pepper, salt and parmesan cheese was necessary to make it ok. I was too hungry from an early flight to order something else.
Atmosphere was nice and all the staff were extremely nice. Pizza seems like the right choice to order here to play it safe as it looked great.

Campisi’s is an old school Dallas classic. Been coming here since the 80’s. Love the cozy atmosphere, dark lighting, attentive personal service and traditional Italian favorites on the menu. Lasagna and pizza are hard to reset but many options on this menu that will please the palate. Parking can be challenging, seek the dedicated lot just west of the entrance for best options.

The interior is a time machine, just lovely. Good pizza, excellent atmosphere. Also, for those from out of town- a fitting stop to pair with the 6th Floor Museum, as Jack Ruby ate a steak here the night before he assassinated Lee Harvey Oswald.
