Ate here yesterday and came back again changing our choices. This time we had the catfish and the pot pie. Both were delicious but different than yesterday.
Yesterday I like the salmon better than the catfish but that’s just because the catfish was fried. It was light flaky and delicious as well, I had the baked beans because they didn’t have the squash… And our beans were cold so it was a slight difference in perfection, but they were still good.

My friend had the pot pie and it was a very filling pot that had leftovers. It was delicious and creamy and plenty for even a guy.

This time there were little details that could have been perfected, like the cold beans, but it was still a good value at $50 for incl tip for what we had.

Yesterday the charred salmon was phenomenal. My friend had a cheesy burger that came out sizzling like a fajita. All of it was delicious.

Yesterday’s review… The campfire grill exceeded expectations. Many of the reviews were mixed with people saying they didn’t get enough value for their money but I don’t know where they live, because we were completely satisfied.

Completely satisfied two types of eaters.
1. I’m a foodie and I want higher-end quality. I ordered the bourbon salmon over sauteed onions and had maple squash and smashed potatoes. The salmon was wonderful, seared perfectly and flavored lovely. The sides especially the squash was great. The potatoes aren’t anything to write home but I would definitely get their beans next time. I had expected they might have too much saturation of fat and bacon and they didn’t. It was $28.

I added an $12 wine flight by a local winery and it was very generously poured in appropriate glassware. Each wine went well with my food.

2. I travel with a friend who likes more pedestrian tastes of classic hamburgers. She had the sizzling cheesy burger and loved it. She got a side of the green beans and they were not only plentiful, they were cooked perfectly and only a little bit of bacon. It was $18.

Another treat is that it was kids eat free day. I’m glad we went in between meals so we didn’t have to be with a lot of children but that’s a great deal.

We left completely satisfied and needing no other food for the rest of the afternoon. I plan to go back and I’m hoping to have the chicken pot pie.

Had a family Thanksgiving meal at the Campfire Grill in Massanuten. The atmosphere and decor of the place were great. Our server Nikki did a good job especially when It came to splitting the bill for the different parties. Food took a while to come out but we were a group of 19 so it’s understandable.
The food was mediocre. I felt like it had so much more potential. Side veggies were tasteless (something out of a retirement home). Butternut squash was a fail! The burgers were small.
Overall we had a good time but food was underwhelming.

We came on an off season day and used “Mad Money” to pay for our meal. It started off with our host not being able to tell us if we could use the “mad money” there and not seeing if it did we had to ask our waitress.
It was not super busy but definitely people around the restaurant. Our food wasn’t bad but not well seasoned. My salmon just tasted like fish nothing really popping about it but I liked the crispiness of the fish. The potatoes were very bland I hate to say it. I like that there’s pieces of potato in it, but it needed more seasonings. It took well over 10 minutes for our waitress to come back and give us a to go box and our dessert and she never once refilled our drinks. She was pleasant over all, but didn’t have any tables on our side of the restaurant but us so I’m not quite sure why it took so long for check ins and a to go box. With 2 meals, dessert and drinks it cost $80

We were excited to try and actually looking to celebrate and our meal was cold and bland. Ordered a French onion and it was mostly broth and cold. Husband ordered the pot roast cold, mushy, big pieces of celery that you couldn’t even cut. I had the chicken pot pie that had no flavor and no chicken. Our server was great and management took off the onion soup and 50% discount for pot roast. Considering no other options at the resort makes it tough to go out for a night. We will be doing a run to the Food Lion and cooking in.

Upon arriving at the restaurant it was a pleasant experience with a friendly and personable hostess who seated us immediately. Our server Madison F explained the specials, giving recommendations and took our orders. Wine, food and dessert were all delicious. The prime rib was outstanding seasoned perfectly and cooked to perfection. Best I’ve ever had. The pork cutlet special was outstanding also and very reasonably priced. We spoke to Gauge the manager when he came by twice to check to make sure everything was to our liking. We will definitely return. The atmosphere and view included deer sightings among the golf course. They even had outdoor seating with fire pits.

Massanutten Resort for owners and guests.

The Wine and Dine menu was perfect!

We had spinach dip appetizer, base of it tasted like sausage gravy and no apology was given or offer to replace it. The charcuterie board was great!

The musician was talented but held back. We could not identify any of his songs and neither could google lyric finder.

Charcuterie Board was awesome!

Thank You Father YHWH Jesus Christ and Holy Ghost for this place and staff and may they continue to become YOU MADE IT TO BE!

Even though they were not busy, staff was lacking in genuineness , maybe tired , long day,

Massanutten Resort doesn’t really have great onsite dining options – but this spot was the better one out of them all. Decent prices, full bar, and average (but doable) menu items. Staff was friendly (our server Anja was superb!). The Manager was very helpful and if you have a larger party speak to him and see about getting a reservation. Restaurant fills up quick by 6pm.

Server was nice and polite. Our food on the other hand… half of our dinner sides were served cold and by the time the issue was addressed we had already eaten our protein. My Cat fish was tasty and the salmon was very good. My son enjoyed the Sizzling beer cheese burger.

The food was average, especially considering the incredibly crowded restaurant during Christmas. The only redeeming quality was the cornbread. The staff was friendly, but the server was overwhelmed by the number of customers and was struggling to keep up which is understandable during holidays.

As with any review from a random consumer, your mileage may vary. You might love this place. We did not. Here’s some of our experience:

Breakfast buffet with eggs to order? Not so much on the eggs. They were real scrambled eggs because I did get an egg shell in one bite, but fried egg whites for my 12 year old picky eater turned into French toast sticks which were part of a medium sized and overall mediocre breakfast buffet setup.

It looks to be a nice enough place although the bathroom was a bit soiled. The biggest problem was they were heavily understaffed. I couldn’t possibly blame the unsatisfactory service on one of those poor employees who were obviously working hard through a tedious Sunday morning, breakfast shift, but certainly the management could cover the place better for the benefit of all parties.

The rest of the food on the breakfast bar was kind of maybe a step above a free hotel breakfast although the sausage gravy and biscuits were not too shabby at all.

But for $16 each, we might have done just as well or better going to Waffle House.
