Reviews
The drinks were a fantastic start to the meal; I had a classic Old Fashioned that was perfectly balanced, and we also enjoyed a Pimm’s Cup, which was refreshing and fit the restaurant’s vibe perfectly.
The food was the highlight of the evening. We started with the sausage rolls, which are easily some of the best l’ve ever had-perfectly flaky pastry and great flavor. The seasonal cauliflower cheddar soup was a standout; the addition of the bacon croutons gave it a smoky crunch that really elevated the dish. For our mains, the salmon was cooked to perfection-moist and fresh-and the steak frites were excellent, with a tender cut of meat and well-seasoned fries.
Between the high-quality ingredients, the attentive service, and the fact that they honored my seating request, it made for a truly memorable evening. This is a great spot if you’re looking to use your Sapphire Reserve dining credit on a meal that actually feels like a premium experience. We will definitely be back.
You should absolutely go and enjoy.

Location: located just outside DOCO at the 555 Capitol Mall is the swank looking Camden Spit & Larder. This vibe and location screams a great place for date or a place to hang out with friends for a work celebration. Towards the front is the bar area and seating is toward the back. The location feels light and airy and bar is lowkey and nice for a calmer bar environment versus some of the busier places around. This place also has outside seating but it was raining pretty aggressively. Parking options are close and plentiful.
Service: We were seated at the bar and service was pretty great but slightly slow at times when asking for certain items. This might have been partially our choice of picking the bar side and ordering an abundance of food. One annoying this is we asked for chips a couple of times for our steak tartare but they never got back to us until MUCH later. Steak tartare had been siting around for a bit at that point
Food: we ordered quite possibly everything on the appetizer/sides and those were all great! We did order two specials of the short rib pot pie and the Beef Wellington and here is where it gets docked quite a bit. A Beef Wellington is a tough dish to master and consequently it can be quite pricey. One of the biggest issues we had here is that the tenderloin was overcooked. A proper Wellington should be medium rare and this was firmly medium. Otherwise the duxelle, pastry, and ham seemed to be well prepared. I can forgive that l this is a slice of a larger Wellington but the overcooked nature and then price really pulled down the star rating.
I’ll get off my high horse now, the other special was met with happiness by my compatriots and the drinks were great otherwise.
If you are coming for drinks or some less complex dish then this would be a pretty good date night spot
From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel like VIPs. The general manager personally greeted us, and they went above and beyond by customizing our menu with our names—such a thoughtful touch that set the tone for the night. The service wasn’t just professional; it was natural, welcoming, and effortlessly cool.
Now, the food—this was straight out of a Food Network-level experience. Every dish was uniquely crafted, flavors we had never experienced before, beautifully plated, and absolutely delicious. The wine pairings were next level, and we couldn’t stop sipping them for the taste alone! I expected greatness, but my wife was completely blown away.
Located right in the heart of downtown Sacramento, near the Golden 1 Center, Camden Spit & Larder is in a perfect spot for a special night out. If you’re looking for an unparalleled dining experience with top-tier customer service, this is the place. Everyone should try this at least once—you won’t regret it!
Parkings.
Now on with why the 2 stars?
I am truly disappointed about the lack of customer service. The amount of servers that were working today were like 1 per every three tables so there were plenty of servers here to accommodate 8 occupied tables in the bar area and three other tables outside in the patio. I wonder why the service was so bad? I noticed they lacked cohesiveness. Every server were on their own here, especially the women. They don’t make eye contacts nor acknowledge anyone whose not part of the tables they were covering. We had to keep waving our arms up n down to flag someone down, and for some reason the 5 servers and bartenders behind the bar counters were in their own world. They never look up or look around to see who needs help. We had to say excuse me 3X to another lady server before she decided to turn around and asked if we needed help? To top it off, we brought a small cake and right after they cleaned our table we ask for couple new small
Plates and a butter knife so we can cut our cake. Our server said, “sorry there is a cake cutting fee!” Shocked to hear…We were like, “Are you serious? Just to cut our own cake with a butter knife and to serve ourselves? Well then Nevermind.” It was not like we were asking them to cut our cake, put some candles on it and sing to us. Not at all.
She then smile and walked away.
Then 10 minutes later, probably felt really silly for telling us what she told us. She handed us some small plates and a butter knife and said she had to ask for manager approval to get us new plates and a new butter knife. Wow. Can’t believe she just said that! That was a really bad reflection on whoever was managing this team tonight. The service we received today was not worth the money we spent here, the servers and their people skills turned our positives into a bad overall experience. There are so many options downtown, I don’t know if I would want to return after today.

A Michelin recommended restaurant in downtown of Sacramento. Complimentary bread is a good start. West Coast Oysters with onions and red wine sauce is incredible. King salmon is delicious. Daily house made pasta is very unique. The best and special is Porchetta. The ending desert is Toffee pudding. Not cheap but worthy.
