I have a son with some different abilities and he and his girlfriend (similar different abilities) wanted to have their first date in public – alone. So myself (his mom) and her mom went early in the day to make a reservation and talk with them about the help they may need during the date. Ashley met us at the door and was AMAZING with helping us decide what would be best for them. They set up a special table ready for their wheelchairs and with the table decorations we brought in to surprise them. When we got there with the kids for their date, Hannah jumped in as the server and along with Ashley they made their date PERFECT! They were kind and patient and made them feel so special! I can not thank you enough for taking on the challenge and showing such kindness towards them. You made a public first date something we will all remember.

BONUS: we (the parents and brother) ate on the upper level so they couldn’t see us nor us see them. Our meal and service was so good! Same two staff – Ashley and Hannah!

Thank you again for an incredible evening!! ❤️

Great meal from start to finish. We started with a Moscow Mule and Bluberry Festival cocktail and complimentary bread with olive oil. Our server was prompt and very accommodating. Our meals were caeser salad, Mussel and Clam linguine, and Ravioli Prima Vera, both were tonight’s specials, cooked perfectly and delicious. This restaurant is in the remodeled historic Bass Shoe manufacturing building which was what the town of Wilton is known for. We dined on the back deck which is on the river. They reccomend reservations for inside dining, however we thoroughly enjoyed the Al Fresco dining in perfect weather.
A charming place. Great food reasonably priced. Kudos to staff and chef. Well done! We will be back.

Best gluten free hamburger and sweet potato fries in town. They also have gluten free desserts available. The peanut butter pie is to die for. Staff are super nice and some of them are actually gluten free as well so they definitely knowledgeable of it. Highly recommend it. When I have company in town this restaurants is my number one choice.

Calzolaio’s is a standout dining experience and easily one of those places you remember long after the meal. Visiting from Florida, it immediately felt special—warm, welcoming, and authentically Italian with a Maine twist. The homemade sauces and fresh pasta are incredible, and the brick-oven pizza is perfectly done with a crisp, flavorful crust. The way they pair classic Italian dishes with fresh Maine seafood and high-quality meats is seamless and impressive.

What truly elevates the experience, though, is the staff. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the food, they make you feel taken care of without ever being overbearing. Whether you’re local or visiting, Calzolaio’s is absolutely worth your time—I’d be back in a heartbeat.

I think we have found our new favorite dinner spot! I am not a huge “foodie” and am never very impressed by any food here in Maine. I’m not picky just not blown away often. Calzolaio has really blown me away with every single item I’ve tried so far. The experience is absolutely amazing dining in. Very welcoming to children which is great since we have a baby and young toddler. We can’t wait to make this our weekly outing spot!

What a great dinner in a cozy atmosphere. The chef (Italian from NY) made the most delicious meal from starter, main course and a light Tiramisu for dessert. We had a really nice server. Seth, was chatty and attentive without being overbearing. He made some great recommendations (including ‘you can’t go wrong with the special’) and the fact that we could eat the orchids to clean our palette.
We were there last minute on a Monday evening and it was busy – so if you are thinking of going on a weekend probably good idea to call ahead for a reservation.
A superb meal and HIGHLY recommend it!!!

It is a great place for indoor/outdoor dining. If you’d like a table inside, you’ll likely want to make a reservation as it is a popular place. The food was delicious, portions were a whole plate full, and the bread and olive oil as a beginner was most welcomed. There is plenty of parking, and even two different EV charging spots.

I don’t ever write reviews but this horrible experience had to be shared. What should have been a simple request of “I would prefer to have a gluten free bun” turned into we won’t serve you the bun or fries and you have to pick something else. Even after explaining that it wasn’t an allergy and it was just a preference. Instead of enjoying a meal with friends and family we had to beg the staff to tell the “chef” to make us the food we asked for. In the end we had to pretend to order the food we wanted from someone else at the table. I’ve never been to a restaurant where I had to try to trick anyone to serve me food. This was an odd and very annoying encounter.

In response to the review… the entire evening we told two different staff that it was NOT AN ALLERGY. Don’t possibly know how we could’ve made it more clear.

Love Calzolaio Italian Restaurant in Wilton, Maine. They also have wonderful waitstaff, and bartenders like Lexi who served us tonight. Their specials are amazing, they have staples like their dessert rhubarb pie which is out of this world, and their sauces for their pastas are tasty and fresh. We always come when we are in town and enjoy being there.

August 2025 update: we have had dinner several times this summer At Calzolaio’s and it’s still terrific.
Pro tip: make a reservation because they get busy. You can sit at the bar and eat dinner though, if there’s a spot open. Service is great! Portions are large and you can easily take some home. The new rhubarb martini is delish!!! Give it a try. They also had a blueberry pie special because of the Blueberry Festival and blueberry ice cream that is amazing!! This is a must visit place!

July 2023 Update: Went back, still excellent. I tried the pork dish and the pork was cooked perfectly, the sauce was sweet, the squash with sun dried tomatoes and bits of bacon was a great surprise and a light side which worked really well. I also chose the risotto as a side and it was HUGE, it had thinly sliced Parmesan cheese on top and it was so rich and so good I took most of it home. It’s a whole meal for later! They had a mixed berry pie for dessert which has a lemony crust that was to DIE for, and it was so full of black and blueberries I would reeaaally recommend that as a finishing touch to any meal there.

Morgan was our server and she was terrific! We will be back again of course!

Update June 2023: We went back again and had Richard as our server, he is fabulous, you can ask for him. We also had the seafood sautée which was soooo delish and the eggplant fries for an appetizer which were a little salty but very tasty. I had a nice cocktail called the basil rathbone which was interesting and STRONG, and my husband had the pickle Rick which he enjoyed very much.
