We went to a local competitor whom we love no shade to them, but they were out of snoot. Now if you know, you know. Snoot is a classic Midwest staple of the summer time and when that craving hits? IT HITS! Sooo we had passed Cals on the way there so we doubled back, we were so surprised at the exterior of the restaurant! The classic brick building with the smoke stacks in the back was very aesthetic! The smell let us know we were about to be in for a treat!

Food: Lord have mercy, we got two rib tip and snoot combo plates, a small potato salad, and an order of tater tots with cheese, and when I tell you, the food was piping hot when it came as soon as we lifted the lid, the smoke that emitted from our food was unreal. It was so good. The first bite was the snoot. We didn’t eat it until we got home, which was about 45 minutes later and it was still hot and the tips were so tender you can bite right through the gristle which is my favorite part.
The sauce was like your traditional old school barbecue sauce not tomato based but you know somebody has some blessed hands back there making up the sauce absolutely delicious and finger licking good…. I’m telling you guys if you want some barbecue, they are killing the competition very tasty and very affordable. Don’t sleep on Cals bbq.

Service: There was a man & a lady that came to the window, this was our 1st time there so we weren’t sure if we could order at the window and they said it was fine with a smile! We sat there and waited for our food and it was given to us in a timely fashion with another smile! That really goes a long way these days!

Atmosphere: Loved the look of the building, nice and quant. Went through the drive thru which was really convenient but they also have an inside you can go into, nice paved parking lot! This is truly a gem in the city!

Listen, Cal’s owes us nothing-but provided everything from exceptional service to delighted tastebuds. We were in between running errands and had a taste for some bbq. We tried finding something otw home and not out of the way. The place we seen off of the highway was closed, so I looked on Google and found Cal’s around the corner. There was a wait but ofcourse because they cook everything fresh (and I mean FRESH!). As we were waiting behind the car in front of us, the lady even came from inside the restaurant and began to take our orders to speed up the service. I appreciated that tremendously. I think alot of people were getting off work or winding down for the evening and stopped at Cal’s also. I had no idea this place was there. We ordered a rib and chicken plate, a large ribtip plate, and 2 sides of fries. Honey….chef’s kiss! It was piping hot and stayed warm all the way until we got home! Now that’s what I call “cooked to order! ” I would wait for freshly cooked food anyday! You could absolutely taste the freshness of the food and the smokey flavor of the meat along with the bbq sauce (which was not too sweet-but just right) was delectable! Thanks you all!! Keep up the great work!!

This food is absolutely amazing. The owner is super chill as well and you can tell he cares about his craft. My step father owned a smoke house growing up so I’m particular about my BBQ. They don’t miss! Snoot and rib tip combo available on Saturdays! Try it!

I got the Chicken and Ribs combo. It was good. Thankfully I got a bunch of napkins!

There isn’t any place to eat here. Take out only.

I couldn’t taste most of the things that was in my order, ribs, footlongs, and snoots all seemed to be seasoned in lighter fluid. Don’t know how my entire order was cooked in lighter fluid. Don’t know if someone was mad or it was just one of those off days. I know this can be better. IDK if I’ll get back there ‍♀️

A coworker and I decided to treat our office to some local bbq for lunch, we had heard good things about Cal’s BBQ. What a great choice it was! From the time we pulled into the parking lot everything was top shelf! Well kept facility, very clean and friendly staff. The food was literally melt in your mouth! We had rib tips, wings and baked beans. When we got back to the office and opened the containers the aroma was incredible and our office mates quickly got lined up for a plateful. Everyone, about a dozen people, raved about how delicious the food was and every bit of our large order was eaten. Cal’s just gained a bunch of new customers! If you want to taste some of best bbq in the metro area go to Cal’s!

Ordered the Saturday Special Tips and snoot combo. The young lady at the counter was nice. The wait wasn’t too bad approximately 20 mins but the inside waiting area is pretty small. The tips was tender, snoot was crispy, sauce was good. The only complaint I have is the portion of tips I received was just a sample! They only gave me 3-4 small pieces! I had more snoot than tips. Went down the road to Sandy’s and ordered the same combo and received a whole order of tips enough to feed 2 people. I will give them another try around the summer.

Finally some good bbq in St. Louis! I have yet to find any bbq that has smoke flavor in St. Louis until I found Cals. Great snoot, ribs, rib tips! Real smoke flavor and great sauce. Forget Pappys, Sugarfire, salt and smoke and bogarts, this is the real stuff!

Well, first, opening time isn’t when it’s open, sometimes (late). Next, there is a drive thru that allows cars to sit for 10 to even 25 minutes, which is unreasonable. Finally got my order, which was pretty good, but disappointing, as i couldnt get brisket on a thursday, while the menu clearly says thursdays and fridays. Food was actually smoked, unlike a couple of other local joints. However, the guy working the window forgot BOTH of my sides of potato salad. Which brings me to the nail in the coffin… they DO NOT EVER answer their phone, so like why even have a phone number? So I waited until the next day to give them another shot at getting my brisket and maybe the 2 sides of potato salad that I didn’t get the day before. Nope! The guy there said, “No brisket” again. AND to top it all off, went in the back to get another person’s order and was gone for 13 minutes before I walked out, after having been in the drive thru for another 20 minute stint.

Needless to say, I will NOT be back… which is sad, as I LOVE BBQ, especially brisket. I also like supporting small businesses in the local community but this one is a “no” for me. Go at your OWN risk!
