I Tac.
It was my first time trying Arepas
and the surface of the dough was crispy and fragrant.
It paired perfectly with the chicken salad and was absolutely delicious.
The black beans were so tasty!
Tequenos dough was also crispy, light, and delicious!

I am very satisfied with everything — the food, the atmosphere, and the staff’s service.
The side black beans were especially delicious!

A cozy little place right off the main road. I’ve lived in the area for a while and never knew it was here. I didn’t know what to order so I got this platter and it was incredible! It was the Mixta platter, I think it something to share but I had it all to myself lol. I definitely will be back!

I ordered the classic cachapa with only cheese, and as a Venezuelan this is by far the best cachapa I’ve had here in Georgia. The texture is very good, and you can tell they grind their own corn to make them.

I was looking for authentic Venezuelan food and I got it. The food was very delicious and everyone was super friendly and welcoming. Great family restaurant and amazing atmosphere that they have created. When I’m back in Atlanta, I’m definitely coming back.

Absolutely terrible experience — avoid this place at all costs.
The owner was unbelievably rude and completely unprofessional. They had a brand-new server on his first day, and instead of helping when a group of 12 of us walked in, the owner just stood there watching things fall apart. Orders were taken correctly but came out wrong, and when we politely tried to address it, the owner refused to take any responsibility. Instead, he tried to charge us for the mistakes his own employee made.

We spent over $300 here and were treated like garbage — no apology, no compensation, not even a simple drink to make things right. The owner acted like we were the problem and even tried to stop us as we were leaving, demanding more money for food we didn’t order wrong. It was embarrassing and honestly one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had.

Save yourself the frustration — rude management, disorganized staff, and zero accountability. This place does not deserve your business.

The food here is decent, but the service is painfully slow. When the restaurant is busy be prepared to wait over 40 minutes for your order. The most frustrating part is that the staff offers no explanation or apology for the delays; they just leave you sitting there wondering what’s going on. Not ideal if you’re in a hurry or expecting basic courtesy.

Calle El Hambre brings tasty, fresh, Venezuelan cuisine to South Loop. Tucked in the little shopping mall next to Waffle House, Calle El Hambre is cooking up fresh to order arepas, Venezuelan-style (read: big, fried) emapnadas, fresh juices and other treats including desserts in a casual and friendly atmosphere with upbeat Latin tunes. Stop by and share some love and your appetite with this family-owned small business!

The host was incredibly polite and welcoming, which made for a great first impression.

Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to the service. My order included the chicken empanada, shredded beef empanada, and cochino trío.

Sadly, everything was served cold and lacked the depth of flavor I was hoping for. The cochino trío, in particular, was underwhelming, and the green sauce didn’t quite enhance the dishes as expected. Given the prices, I was hoping for a more flavorful experience.

I’ll give them another shot and update my review accordingly.”

The food is good, not excellent, just good. The prices are high for the food that is served. Service is very slow; it seems like everything is prepared to order, and it takes 40 minutes to an hour to be served.
