This bar and grill in Lenexa was buzzing on Friday night, and it’s easy to see why. The Smokehouse Steak Burger was delicious, paired perfectly with their baked beans, and the menu offers a great variety of BBQ and Keto options. Loved their sweet potato fries! we’ll definitely be back!

It’s a fine option in this part of town. Burger Tuesdays are now $8 which is decent but some other establishments are more competitive. Using the shamrock instead of the apostrophe, I’m led to believe this is an Irish bar but I don’t get much of an Irish vibe. Bartender was nice.

I had the Spicy Saint and the queso fries. The sandwich was pretty good—reminded me a bit of Chick-fil-A. The queso fries, though, were a bit of a letdown; the queso just didn’t have much flavor, so they didn’t really hit the way I hoped. The atmosphere was pretty quiet during lunch, and the service was great. Overall, still a good spot! If you’re looking for a more lively place, check out Knub’s Pub.

Fry Hard With a Vengeance — Episode 5
Callahan’s West

Episode five took us to Callahan’s West, where the mission was simple: wings only, no distractions… though bartender LaChelle made a valiant effort to derail us with the Tuesday burger special. Respectfully declined. When we explained the cause, she didn’t argue — she just smiled and said, “I got you.” That’s how you know you’re in good hands.

Let’s get to the wings.

The hot wings were pretty damn good. Fried, sauced, then charred like they owed someone money — landing right in that sweet spot of crispy exterior and tender interior. Near perfection without crossing into overworked territory. Great-sized wings too… nice girth . Not over-sauced, not under-sauced — the Goldilocks zone.

Then came the curveball: smoked wings with their house Honey Badger sauce. Sweet, vinegar-forward, and completely different from anything else happening in the city right now. These wings don’t just show up — they separate themselves from the pack. If you think you’ve had every wing Kansas City has to offer, this sauce alone says otherwise.

The vibe? Pure Tuesday energy. Low-key but steady. No chaos, no dead room either. Just a solid flow of people, cold beers, and glasses that never sat empty for long.

Score: 7.6 / 10
And let’s be clear — that’s exceptional in our world. A 9 or above remains mythical. Legends only. Callahan’s didn’t break the scale, but it earned its spot comfortably above average and firmly on the “come back again” list.

Final verdict:
Great wings, unique sauce, proper char, and a bartender who understands the mission. Callahan’s West showed up.

Everything thing I’ve tried so far has been DELICIOUS!!. First time ordering to go a few weeks ago, tried a half Hawaiian pizza and a side dinner salad. BOMB! Next up a week or so later, Mondays burger special (Tuesdays though, closed Mondays). Pretty tasty burger, cooked medium well to my perfection and delight. Today, smoked ribs and wings. I decided to get honey badger sauce as well for my wings in addition to the BBQ sauce. So FREAKING GOOD!! I also added bbq beans along with the fries. The beans and fries are pretty good. I’m picky about my sides and I was not disappointed. Sauce all over my desk, lol… Staff is really nice, very good recommendations on every occasion. I’m looking forward to my next order, posted the menu on the wall in my office. Yesssss, that good…

This is a bar more than a grill. That said, our food was very good. The inside is completely open and it is VERY loud. I think if I were going to drink beer and hang out with friends this is a better place than to sit and have dinner.

The wings are some of the best in the area and the k7 burger is hefty too for the growing boys in your family.

So another adventure. My wife and I tried Callahans for a quick bite. We asked about their white BBQ sauce, it is listed with one of their chicken sandwiches Our waitress guaranteed we would like it. So we tried a sample our waitress brought us. It was a mixture of tarter sauce and BBQ. Neither my wife or I liked it. Not even a little bit! Our waitress became less friendly after we told her we did not like the sauce. Restaurant is a bar and grill, no frills, not busy (late lunch time about 1pm). We ordered ribs and wings with tots and queso and a salad to go (waitress suggested ordering it once our food is delivered). So being polite, we will call this bar food, it is a bar after all. When our food was delivered our waitress brought a yet not ordered salad, not to go, also the shared entree had fries no queso tots. Waitress fixed the error quickly. The wings were too greasy for my wife and she only ate only one rib. The queso sauce had no visible (or flavoured) seasoning and appeared to be thinned out. Honestly, were both glad the fries were mistakenly added they were better than the tots. Dillons (grocery store) often grills ribs for sale, I’d highly recommend their ribs over Callahans’ ribs. Over all, we both agreed this will be our first and last visit to Callahans, its not worth the effort.
