Great!
You can get lobster rolls here, what else can a person need? The taste was lobster at the front. No mayo taste and light bun taste. It was good. Comes with clarified butter and a handful of fries. About $28 for 2 lobster rolls and the fries.

Wow! So much flavor! No one from my group had been here before, so it was new to all of us. I ordered the cajon fish tacos, tomatoes, and zucchini. I couldn’t believe the punch of flavor on my first bite of taco and the taste explosion of my tomatoes! My daughter enjoyed her battered fish tacos, as well as the elote. The staff was super friendly. I’ll visit, again.

I’m upset with myself that I didn’t check my food before I left. I would have definitely asked for a refund. For the amount of money I spent I was shocked to see what I got. The portion was that of a small child – I’m a grown man. I didn’t count my fries yet but I’m almost certain I got about 8-10 of them. The reason I’m writing this review is because people work hard for their money, and nothing is cheap anymore. So when I’m spending one hour worth of work to enjoy a nice meal, I just expected something better.
Not to mention, if I wanted a different type of fish with this fish and shrimp meal, it would be an upcharge of $7. No larger portion or anything, just a different type of fish.
Sorry, but won’t be coming here again.

Employees were nice but food was garbage. I got the grilled ahi, which tasted slightly worse than chunky light but with the added flavor of old grill scrapings and topped with a substance that had little resemblance (in flavor or texture) to the the butter garlic that it claimed to be. I’d recommend the fried calamari if you want to eat tires but don’t like flavor.

I order from this restaurant nearly every day of the week and with the experience I had today, I will never go back. Today I ordered online the same entree I order everyday and saw that there was an offer for a free soft drink with the purchase of an entree. For some reason I was unable to redeem the free drink promotion, so I took a screenshot of this error and showed the team up front as soon as I arrived to pick up my order.
As soon as I showed them this, they immediately gave me attitude saying that the free drink promotion could only be redeemed in person. I asked for the manager as this information was inaccurate per the order option on the CFG app. The manager came out of her office and was incredibly rude to me and told me I had to pay the $3.50 for the drink no matter what. She told me despite the error I received I still need to pay for the drink promotion. From there I left with my food disgusted with the customer service I experienced.
As soon as I got home, I opened the bag of food and realized the restaurant forgot my fries. I called the store letting them know I need to speak with the manager on duty, however as soon as she picked up the phone, she was super rude. She told me I could redeem a free order of fries when I come back. I told her that option does not make sense to me because everytime I order I get the salmon entree which comes with the option for fries, so why would I get an extra set of fries… Then I just proceeding on politely requesting a partial refund to cover the fries portion of the order, but the manager hung up the phone on me saying that I was rude to request this.
I called back for a second time because I found it strange for a restaurant to treat me with such disrespect and continue to be rude to me. The manager proceeded to hang up on me for a second time, without even speaking with me. For a third time I called back and spoke with a male manager on the floor and he told me he would give me a partial refund for the entree. Which I have not even received the refund yet. Additionally, he said he had “no clue” why the other manager hung up on me.
With this experience that I had today with the rude manager I will never come back again.

I was scammed ordering Cajon Fish Taco and given battered fish taco. The cashier had deliberately deceived me by saying my order and pushing the wrong button. I did not know the look of Cajon Fish. So I asked for a complimentary dessert for the employee mistake. The cashier checked out for a break. And I talked to the manager. You ate the meal so no complimentary dessert. So You need to look at your receipt and make sure you have everything ordered to your choosing and not being scammed. I would not order out with this business not standing up to making mistakes and blaming the customer for an employee mistake looks more like a scam.

Superb fish dishes and accompanying sides. They use a kiosk ordering scheme, but help is provided. It depends on cell phone messages for food readiness notifications. My only critiques are that salt and pepper aren’t readily available, and the dining in experience isn’t very impressive, and it can be very loud. Honestly, I think they’re a better takeout option.

California Fish Grill has been a go-to spot for me, but recent changes have left me less than satisfied. The spike in prices and the introduction of self-serve kiosks, coupled with an unclear tipping policy, have made the experience less enjoyable. While the food quality remains decent, the overall value has diminished. It’s my hope that the management considers customer feedback to improve these aspects for a more satisfying dining experience.

Bathroom smell was horrendous!! I spoke to staff about it, they assured me they know it’s had that horrible smell since the morning. Couldn’t even wait with my child while they used it. Totally got my grilled shrimp order wrong.. ordered large shrimp platter (grilled), they provided fried shrimp (breaded shrimp plate)- extremely overcooked. Completely wrong. As well as a fish & chips tray extremely overcooked. I was well underdressed, as I came from the pool with my child. It’s hard not to think I was over looked and under compensated bc I am an underdressed black woman. They totally disregarded me from the time I ordered, until the time I returned the order. Check it out for your selves.. super hard food. Brownish red. Drove all the way to El Cajon for a deep craving to be treated like I don’t matter. They had to know this look different from the fresh golden look. This looks like it was old and refried for warmth, then sold to what they saw as a peasant. Extremely dissatisfied.
