I enjoy my time at Fish Grill Downey, CA. My Mom and I got the Shrimp Tacos, and they were good and filling! I’m definitely going back. Everyone serving us was really nice and helpful. We went on a day before the lunch crowd and it was so nice and there was a quiet atmosphere that I really enjoyed!

First time at this location. I frequent the Cerritos location quite often. Food was good. Service is horrible. Never did receive my Tomatoes & Feta. Said they were going to bring it to my table never did. Floors are dirty along the windows you can see cobwebs from lack of cleaning. I will never be back to this location. I give restaurants one chance. They lost my family’s business.

I enjoy coming to this place. The fish tacos are my favorite dish. The taco is really crispy I add kaleslaw it adds a crunch to the taco. The servers are really very helpful. There’s plenty of space to dine with your family. I enjoy my food very much.

I was denied a substitution request on the Everything Protein Bowl by the manager on Saturday January 18, 2026 at 2:20
pm at the Downey location on Apollo Way. My substitution request was to not have swai fish, but any other protein substitute that comes in that bowl. I had asked for it previously 2 times before and it wasn’t a problem. So I cancelled my nearly 50.00
order and took my money elsewhere so another restaurant could profit. There isn’t a policy in place that doesn’t allow substitutions. I have purchased food from here numerous times, along with placing Grub Hub orders from here. Today was my last time purchasing from California Fish Grill.

You can self order up front at the two kiosks and grab your order and drink cup near the food counter. Plenty of seating inside and some outside as well.
I ordered the grilled swai with garlic butter sauce ($8.25), rosemary zucchini for my side, a soda, and clam chowder ($7.99). Fish was tender and flaky. I never feel heavy eating their rosemary zucchini and it’s full of flavor. Decent amount of clams in the chowder; it didn’t feel like the soup was overpowered by potatoes. I was curious about their pineapple cream soda so I tried it for my soft drink selection: yummy, though definitely on the sweet side.
Their staff were courteous and friendly. Appreciate them grabbing our tray from our table.
This California Fish Grill location is in an area with a variety of stores for you to walk around after the meal. Browsed the selection at Daiso and ended up finding some unexpected items at TJ Maxx. Lots of parking too, so an easy spot for a meal and meetup!

Today, I wanted fish tacos and the only place I go to is CFG Downey.
I ordered a two-fish taco combo, paid $5 extra for my Brussels Sprouts, and for Roasted Street Corn, my favorites.
On my order, I asked for NO CILANTRO.
I received my plate with CILANTRO on my tacos and sides. I gave my plate back and explained what I ordered and the server said they would redo my plate and bring it to me.
When my plate arrived at my table, it was still covered in CILANTRO. UCKY!!!
I’m not sending this plate back a third time and I don’t think I’ll be coming back to this restaurant.

I love this restaurant. When you walk in through the door, you have the option to use a kiosk on your own or they will help you with your order. The crew is very attentive. The chefs are on point. They work together in unison. This is a perfect restaurant, especially if you love fish. Even if you don’t love fish and you wanna try something new I guarantee your experience here will be on point.
