Calico Jack Coffee is run by a dedicated coffee loving couple Chris and Charisse Barbian, along with their successful “Emmy award winner in film editing” nephew Austin Barbian. Calico Jack has been a relentless pursuit of coffee perfection through a dedication to environmental, social, and fiscal sustainability and a commitment to creating cutting-edge coffee. We are very active in the coffee roasting community making our name known for our quality and passion. We were voted best Independent Coffee Shop in the Cleveland Magazine 2025. We are grateful for all the support our northeast Ohio community brings us daily. Our business intention is to bring the best coffee from the independent farms fresh and straight to your cups and homes.

This coffee shop is so cute and cozy!! Everyone working so was delightful and nice. The atmosphere is very homey, cozy, and comfortable. The normal menu had lots of options and there was also a large selection of seasonal items too! Would totally recommend if you’re in the area!!

My family and I always try to find nice or boujee coffee spots while on vacation, so to end our 5 day road trip we popped by this little joint. Looks like a well ran and maintained coffee shop. I got a caramel frap with no whip (there was whip). But no Biggie! Still tasted fine. It happens. My family was very satisfied with their drinks. Definitely do recommend this spot.

Came here to have a traditional coffee shop experience but I had a Starbucks experience. Ordered a cappuccino, dine in, expecting a mug with a foamy top. Instead I got a paper cup and a lid. Coffee was ok. They have done a lot to make it a welcoming atmosphere, but without the proper barista experience its not worth the extra hassle for me to come back regularly.

Finally a real coffee shop in Mentor!!! We were excited to check out a new coffee shop and were hoping it would be better than what was in its place before and we were very surprised! We got lattes that were actually flavored and steamed correctly.
The place is very nice, luckily the previous owners remodeled it and they kept the same style which was a very good idea. They are even extending the deck outside for more seating which is a genius move! They have a quiet conference room in the back as well for meetings or work.
We spoke to Karissa and the owner Austin and they were so nice! I was impressed at their knowledge of the craft coffee industry and they are not a fast food sugar shack coffee shop like Starbucks, Dunkin or even the new Human Bean. What I’m most excited about is the coffee roasting classes Austin is planning to do!
For years we have been wanting a true craft coffee shop in Mentor and finally it’s here so we don’t have to drive like 30 minutes away for quality coffee! Looking forward to the coffee community Calico Jack brings to Mentor and finally grow my hobby and love of coffee. If you’re in town and want quality coffee with very friendly service then this is the place for you!

The barista seemed to know exactly what to do throughout the entire process of making a shot of espresso and was able to walk me through all of the various things that they have for sale at the establishment.
Their coffee appears to be roasted in house considering I could see The roaster from the hallway to all of the tabletop games that they have available for families and people to play with while they’re having a cup of coffee.

I traveled the 45 minutes to meetup with my friend who lives in Mentor. This place looked cute and reviews good. The coffee was pricey , just okay. The dine in space is very small and loud. Overall good spot

Went there on the Lake County Hot Cocoa Tour and were super excited! The cashier was very friendly and helpful with coffee suggestions. The sourdough English muffin was super delicious and the jalapeño Asiago bagel is a MUST try! Definitely will be going back. I got the Spiced Treasure which has some cayenne and cinnamon. Delicious!
