On behalf of our gym, Hills Training, we can’t thank cali Spartan enough for providing amazing service and even better food! We love supporting small businesses and from the moment we first stepped foot at this location it was always nothing but love and great vibes. Especially since we generally frequent restaurants in groups of 10-50 people at a time as a gym. Many local restaurants are unable to handle the capacity of people we bring on a friday night after we close our small business, but Cali Spartan has always welcomed us with open arms. Photos attached below are from a watch party they hosted for 70+ of our gym members & dinner with 40 of our gym fam for a christmas bus tour we had organized and we have NO complaints. Thank you Cali Spartan!

This is our second time visiting this place, and the food has been consistently great! We especially love their birria—both the Quesabirria Tacos and the Birria Burrito are outstanding. Next time, we’re definitely trying the tacos!

As for the food, I ordered four crispy tacos–two chicken and two carnitas. While they looked fantastic, I was disappointed to find that the flavors didn’t quite match the presentation. The meat was dry and lacked the juicy, flavorful punch I was hoping for. It’s always a letdown when a dish looks so appealing but doesn’t deliver on taste.
Overall, while Cali-Spartan has potential with its lively vibe and generous shots of tequila, the mediocre food left much to be desired. I’d be open to giving it another shot on a quieter night, but I can’t say I’m in a rush to return. If you’re looking for great tacos, you might want to keep searching.

Food was ok and definitely needed condiments for taste! Spacious and clean area. Huge selection of food options. Attentive servers. Condiments bar was a good option.

This location is more spacious and less ratchet than the downtown SJ location if you like more peaceful places. There’s also plenty of plaza parking.
The food came out in 5 minutes, piping hot. The service is really great. They appeared instantly when we were ready to order, needed anything, and when we wanted to get the check.
I love the quesabirria burrito the best. But the big crispy tacos are a close second. If I am feeling something less solid, I would go for the menudo. They have a great condiments bar to complement everything.
If you go with a big party, it is a great opportunity to get some of their seafood platters or molcajete. The guacamole is super fresh too.
There’s a good variety of drinks, even one called Hangover Cure. Did not work for me. The shrimp micheladas is very satisfying though.

If I didn’t live their food as much as I do this review would be way worse. But by far this has been the worst customer service place I’ve ever been. I go here a lot. Obsessed with it their chicken tacos. But every time I come in it’s a task. I order my drink and not only does my food come before my drink most of the time, I usually have to ask for it. As I sit here and watch other tables get their items. Today was the final straw and the reason I won’t be returning. Not only did I wait for 20 minutes for my drink, after they brought our food out my wife’s was completely wrong. When she spoke up and told them no this isn’t what I ordered our host wanted to argue instead of making it right. On their menu it states 3 small crunchy type tacos for 11$. When we got the bill they charged us way more. So I advise any one coming here to double check their menu vs. the charges. Although I do love this place I know there’s more restaurants that deserve my money and prob have better service.

Best Mexican food in the South Bay. I go to other places and it’s just never as good. I recommend the biria burritos for sure.
I had to remove a star for one big reason. The water here is terrible. Undrinkable. It’s self serve which is fine but where the problem come in is the taste. Firstly it’s always room temperature which is bad enough, and secondly the cups seem to be covered in soap which makes every drink here taste a bit like soap.

As far as Mexican places go in the bay I personally think this is a top 3 spot.
Their crispy tacos are fantastic, probably better than most places tacos.
Lingua is amazing and their carne asada is fine.
Pricing wise it’s a tad more then others but is well worth it, come early not late to avoid all the lines.

This is such a great spot for great food. Service is always quick and to the point. Everything came out nicely and the group enjoyed. The Huarache with Carnita, Chicken Enchilada, and Birria Tacos were so good.
